18 months

Abigail, you're half way to two!

You weren't in much of a celebratory mood today, but we made the best of it by going to Dick's for milkshakes (you had your very own and devoured it!), then came home and watched cartoons.

The milkshake helped turn your mood around; don't they always?!

Here are some things we're loving this month:

  • You started walking full time today!  You still crawl if you need to get somewhere quickly, but for the most part you're a full-time (Frankenstein-style) walker!
  • "Gaga"- that's what you call your belly button.  I remind you that it's a "belly button", but you look back at me with a patient pause and quickly correct me: "Gaga".   Okay, fine.  Gaga it is.
    • I purposefully put you in onsies so you don't mess with your belly button 24/7.  Half of the time it's bright red from your little fingers messing with it all day.
    • And watch out world! Abigail's been conducting "Gaga" research, so be prepared to have your shirt lifted and belly button examined at any given time...
  • You understand most questions.  At times this is fun, and at other times it proves difficult when there really isn't an option.  Your typical reply to anything I ask is a quick shake of your head "no".
  • Commands have been entertaining:
    • "Abigail, touch your nose" (you touch your temple with a huge smile on your face)
    • "Abigail, stick out your tongue" (80% of the time you reach over to touch our tongue)
    • "Abigail, make a crazy face" (you scrunch up your face and say "Azazazazaza!")
    • "Abigail, touch the top of your head" (this is the only one you take seriously.  You actually do it)
    • "Abigail, say Dada" (you do it when I'm not around, but if I'm there, you bashfully turn to me, smile, and stay silent- smart girl)  :)
  • You enjoy cooking.  Mamie and Papa got you a kitchen for Christmas.  You play with it for hours; stirring, cooking, turning the knobs, and loading the oven.  Dad let you cook for real this week (sitting on the counter mixing water, parsley, and pepper) and you loved it!

You at....

Happy day, baby girl.

Abigail,
You are such a delight to us! Oh my gosh, how I love to spend time with you. Your quiet and gentle spirit, your amazing smile and your tiny little elvish ways endear me to you so much! I look forward to every stage and new thing you will accomplish. I miss you so much and was so bummed I didn't get to give you a kiss before I left, but be assured i will have a little souvenir from my trip for you!

Love you more than you could ever know,

Mamie

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered the queso dip (yep, the

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a
