Our Karate Kid

George started karate lessons at Karate West this past weekend and he LOVES it.

Cross Country

Abigail just completed her first season of XC and I am ridiculously proud of her.  She was determined at each practice and meet to do the best she could and keep going, even when she felt tired. She was so good natured throughout the short season and I was amazingly proud of her at every turn. Here are a few pictures from her meets, if you would like to see: Abigail, Sasha, and Isla (the St Joe's Kindergarten girl's team)

Go Sounders!

Kevin's company invited employees and their families to the Sounder v. Chelsea match on Wednesday night, so Abigail and I decided to come along. To add more excitement to our little adventure, we rode the bus into town.  It was her first time on a bus and she loved it! (putting us in the socially awkward position of making friends with every semi-homeless person who passed by...) Abigail entertained Kevin's co-workers and made some new friends at pre-game happy hour, then it was off to her first match! I think she had fun... ( I'm dying take her to a Hawk's game this Fall! )  There was quite a lot of stimulation between all the cheering, fireworks, and flags flying but she had her cookies to keep her safe... Then there was the clapping. She really felt a part of the crowd when we would cheer!   She was like:  "oh, we're clapping!  I know this one!" Uncle Victor, you would have been proud! The ...

Swim Lesson Strike

It seems Abigail's fed up with swim lessons and the only way she knows how to tell me is by sleeping through her lesson every. single. thursday. morning. for the past few weeks... So, extra bath time it is! And on a totally unrelated note, have I ever mentioned this kid's love for sweet potatoes?!   ;) It runs deep... Happy Thursday- we're almost there!

Swim Lessons

As some of you may remember, Abigail took her first dip back in October, but yesterday we hit the big leagues: swim lessons. Swim lessons for a 6 month old is much like storytime at the library: stand in a big circle and sing songs for 30 minutes, but in the pool you get the added bonus of playing with water and splashing! As you can tell from the pictures above, Abigail was rockin' the "diaper only" fashion.  I wasn't sure what the protocol was, so I erred on the minimalist side.  Little did I know, she would be the only nudist her class- how embarrassing.. Lesson learned: a fashionable one piece was purchased stat.  So next week she will no longer be the naked, gender questionable baby at swim lessons! Most adorable part of it all?  She has a natural froggy kick!  Check it out: In other news, Abigail had her 6 month check up this morning. At her 4 month visit she was in the 70% for weight and 50% for height, but today she weighed ...

A 10K Down, A Half To Go

We ventured over to Kirkland yesterday for the  Set The Pace Race , sponsored by the company Kevin is currently consulting for. Great morning for a race! High 50s / low 60s and a nice sceanic route along the Kirkland waterfront. My co-cherleader and Kevin's biggest fan! So proud of Kevin and all the hard work he's put into training. He finished in just over an hour, pacing around a 10 minute mile.  Impressive for a 6 mile distance.  And per Victor's suggestion, he enjoyed a beer in the hot tub post run! Way to go Love...you did great, and I'm so proud of your dedication!

Training for a half marathon

Not me! Although that's not a bad idea; I could use it... Kevin decided a few months back to train for the Seattle half marathon in November.  Training just started last week, so we've seen lots sweat and sore muscles around here lately. And while I am not partaking (I will be there on race day as a cheerleader), I decided to contribute by turning our kitchen chalk board into a training calendar for Kevin. A fun way to help him stay on track while keeping my infamous to-do list at bay (funny how taking those tasks off the board helps me relax).  It's a win/win! And as a fun addition to the calendar, I added a motivational section at the bottom: Every week, Abigail's cut-out shares a few words on encouragement to Dad (I know, I have too much time on my hands...) So wish Kevin luck on his training; it's going to be hard, but I know he can do it! We'll update you again in November, post run!

TGIS!

In the wise words of my Mother-in-law, "Thank God it's Sunday!"   As promised, below are a few pictures of Kevin's double screen Masters week. Lots to look at! Congrats to Charl Schwartzel for the big win today.  Also, congrats to Kevin for coming in first place on Tiger Woods 2012....big win in the Lauckner house today!   I watched for a bit, although Minnie was clearly bored to pieces.... Happy Masters Sunday!

It's Masters Week!

I really shouldn't use an exclamation in the subject line.  The week typically means Kevin dissolves into the couch to watch golf until Sunday, but it's also a fun time at our house.  He loves watching the Master's (says it's his Super Bowl), and it's fun to watch him geek out and get so excited about it.  This year he set up two TV's side by side so he can watch the Master's on one, and play his new Tiger Woods 2012 (Master Edition) on the other.  This is no joke....we gave it a test run last night.  I promise to post pictures this week once he's in full geek mode  :) It's also hard to believe that 3 years ago today, Kevin, Kirk, Amy and I were in Augusta, Georgia walking around Augusta National (like as we speak)!  What a fun day and week it was....every year I think of that trip and all the fun memories.  We saw lots of famous golfers (Fred Couples, Tiger Woods, Gary Player..), then spent a week in Charleston, South...
