A Weekend Away With My (little) Boy

George and I flew to LA last weekend to celebrate Brennan's first birthday, and we had such a great time! It was my first time flying solo with either of my kids.  I was a bit nervous, but both flights went fairly well.  On the way down he was content to play peek-a-boo, study his toys, and have a few snacks.  He fell asleep about 30 minutes into our flight, but only slept for 20 minutes (grrr!) And on the way back, while it ended in a 2 hour-plus nap, it began with a hot, shirtless, tired, (but in true George form),  smiley baby.  He was like the drunk guy at the party; the night starts off and everyone's having fun- laughing, telling jokes, and having a great time, but at some point this guy becomes belligerent (unbeknownst to him) and while he believes he's still the life of the party, everyone's actually trying to ignore him. Yep, he was that guy for the first 10 minutes of the flight, before passing out the rest of th...

Goodbye, Teacher Charlotte and Henry

Yesterday was full of goodbyes. It started with Abigail's last day of preschool for the year.  With the baby coming in September, I'm looking for a new co-op that will offer infant care, so yesterday was her last day of class and we celebrated with a field trip to the zoo! We bundled up for the crazy weather (rain coats and sunglasses!) and spent the morning with Teacher Charlotte and our preschool friends. Bitsy Girl's first school field trip.  Rockin the field trip vest  :) Abigail could have spent all day watching the penguins (she would sing every time the water rushed out from the rocks) and loved watching the penguins swim by or waddle on shore. After peeling her away from the penguin tank, we continued on to see the jaguar, lions, monkeys, elephants, and giraffes. It was such a fun day; Abigail was so interested in watching the animals (and people, of course). I think a zoo membership is in order! Abigail wins the "spot" compe...

Wild Lights

Before heading off for the holiday weekend, we joined Dan, Anne, and Henry for Wild Nights  at the zoo (yes, a bit late) This was Woodland Park's first year putting on a light display, and we had a great time walking around and taking in all the pretty lights (minus the snake exhibits...Mike and Anne were not fans) The kids had fun playing in the Snowmazium, visiting with Mr. Penguin, and riding the carousel.... Visiting the "Ca" (peacock) that was hanging out near stroller check Snowmazium with Daddy Unsure... Cruising around with Uncle Mike Turtles! The carousel and walking around (assisted, but like a big girl) were Abigail's highlights...she loved the carousel and would sing as her horse went up and down.  She also enjoyed any opportunity to see "Ca's": the peacock, Mr. Penguin, and some reindeer. Thanks again for the great idea, Dan and Anne.  We had a blast!

The Tradition Continues

Last year we skipped our Christmas party to celebrate Abigail's baptism . Kevin refused to have two parties at Christmastime. (I suppose I can't blame him.) But we came back with avenges this year, and it was so much fun! Joined by many friends, a bonfire, yule log disco, sing-a-longs, and topped with an ugly Christmas sweater cameo concert, it was a memorable evening for sure! The party started at 7pm, which seems reasonable until you have a kid.  Then 7pm on a Saturday night feels like bedtime.  Next year we'll be starting at 6- just to be sure we stay awake  ;) (and I'll be using a real camera since clearly my iPhone takes blurry pictures) My little Elf was ready to party So was our cute little house! Even the tree was eager for friends to arrive!  Santa and his Elf. These two are adorable and I love them so. Abigail shows Grandpa how to party Alford & Taryn Lewis loved Abigail, but Abigail wasn't sure about ro...
