The Big "One"

Yesterday was amazing!

Surrounded by so much love, family, and friends, we celebrated Abigail's first birthday.

The party started at noon with most people staying late into the afternoon to enjoy the festivities, libations, water balloon wars, and pool time (Mr. Henry was ruler of the roost, scaring away even the toughest kid: Big Oscar!)

Highlights from the afternoon include Henry's onesie with Abigail's picture screened onto it (and in return, a onesie for Abigail with Henry's picture on it!), Abigail's casual cake smash...apparently she's used to sweets (our fault!) so she felt no need to rush, taking almost a half hour to slowly enjoy her cake, an accordion from Erin and Richard, 3+ wardrobe changes, water balloon wars, a slide show of Abigail's first year, and lots of fun moments catching up with friends and celebrating the birthday girl.

With that said, I'll leave you with a slew of pictures....

Enjoy!  :)

After the exchange of onsies, things have gotten pretty serious.

Getting a group shot was like herding cats.  This was the best we managed...

Present time!

Loving the wrapping

After about 15 minutes she was done.
Off to hang out with Grandpa!
Singing Happy Birthday.  It took every morsel of strength not to cry.

First bite

15 minutes into it, people stopped watching, but she kept going!

Time to rinse off...pool time!

Abigail was having fun until....
This happened  :)

Which resulted in this...
But once we got her dried off and cuddled up to Mommy, all was right in the world

Happy and dry  :)

In the midst of the pool party, Oscar came over to announce that "we're having a war of balloons"
Which started with an innocent water balloon fight
Escalated a bit...

And ended with "The Dunkinator"!!

Meanwhile, Abigail stayed dry and warm in outfit #4  :)
And caught up on the latest with Charlie while fighting to stay awake

Thanks again to everyone who celebrated with us.  It meant so much having each of you there- we love you!

So, tomorrow's the big day! Our baby will be moving from "baby" to "toddler".

I'm having a hard time not feeling emotional about it; I guess that comes with being a Mom.

The three of us are going to dinner to celebrate- at a place with good cheese and bread- the birthday girl's favorite  :)

Ahh this breaks my heart a bit...so wish we could have been there! What a sweet baby girl. I love that picture of you and Kevin with her while she's eating.

Also, fun fact--I'm working my way through the seasons of Friends and today I happened to watch the one where they celebrate Emma's first birthday. It's a sign! Abigail has been blessed by the Friends of Central Perk :)

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered the queso dip (yep, the

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a
