Let's go to the movies!

Abigail and I went to see her first movie last week! It was a last minute idea, and while she would have loved to see Sponge Bob, there was no way I was going to sit through 2 hours of that ... So Paddington it was! She had no idea what to expect but was blown away by the vastness of it all.  Not only was she amazed by the huge movie screen, but gave an audible gasp when she walked into the bathroom and saw rows of stalls  ;) And since we went to a 5:30 film, we had popcorn for dinner! In true form, Abigail sat attentively the whole time, only stopping twice for bathroom breaks, and once because "I want a cookie, Mama" When in Rome... We didn't get a cookie (of all the junk they sell, cookies aren't one of them), but settled on Rasinettes (my Mom gene was relatively satisfied). Here are a few more cute pictures. I loved this date with my little lady. It was so fun to sit in silence together for a few hours, giggling and e...

Coastal Love

Mamie and Papa offered to watch the kids this past weekend, so Kevin and I were able to get away for Valentine's Day. What a treat! We spent the weekend on the coast and found a house just north of Ocean Shores. It was the perfect chance to relax, unwind, and reconnect. (We even spent both mornings simply looking out at the ocean, drinking our coffees, and talking to each other!) Disconnecting from our devices is hard, but so worth it. We had our fill of high cholesterol seafood (we managed fish and chips, clam chowder, crab cakes, and shrimp louie all within a 48 hour period), took long walks each morning, spent Valentine's evening at an adorable wine bar and restaurant in Seabrook , and soaked in the ocean air as we drove down the beach each day. Here are some pictures from the weekend. I hope you enjoyed an equally relaxing weekend. Happy (belated) Valentine's Day.

17 months

Happy 17 months, GG boy! I've done this for Dad  and  Sissy , and now it's your turn... 17 Reasons why George is awesome: 1) You love to sleep and curl up with a smile, so ready for nap and bedtime each day. 2) And you sleep well!  2-4 hour naps with a 6:30pm bedtime and 7:30am wake time ain't too shabby. 3) The Princess Anna doll is your favorite new toy.  You're in love with her! 4) Curious George makes you giggle 5) You love to disciple Millie "nah, nah, nah!" as you feed her the food you're specifically requesting she not eat ;) 6) You love going on walks and stroller rides 7) You think it's funny to put Sissy's purse over your shoulder and one of her necklaces around your neck and pretend to leave. 8) Playing chase cracks you up!  So do real or fake burps  :) 9) You tap your foot when dancing   10) You love to cuddle (finally!) 11) Sissy and Dada are the funniest people you know 12) You go...

George's First Haircut

This past weekend we took George to Kids Club Salon for his first haircut. I was so sure he'd love it (all the attention on him, sitting in a little car, and playing with a basket of toys), but all he wanted was to get down. Or to play with someone's phone. So the latter it was! I held off so long on this first cut, but his locks were getting pretty long in the back, and I've gotta admit, he looks pretty stinking cute with a new trim! My (not-so-little-anymore) baby boy!!

A Very Merry (half!) Birthday

to YOOOOOOU! A very merry (half) birthday, to you, to-you, to you, to-you, a very merry (half) birthday to you, to-you, to you, to-you. Now blow your candles out my dear and make your wish come true.... A VERY MERRY HALF BIRTHDAY TO YOOOOOOOOOOU!  We sang that song all day! Tonight we celebrated with pizza at Round Table.  You and George loved playing video games, and we learned that, apparently, you know what to do with a gun.  There was a hunting video game with two plastic guns (think old school 80's arcade) and you picked up the gun, pointed it at the screen, saying "pew, pew, pew!" Dear lord. Anyway, we had a blast!  We intended to go out for frozen yogurt afterwards, but both you and George were pooped. You have changed so much these past 6 months.  So much that it's hard to believe it was only 6 months ago we were at the park celebrating this little girl . Here are some of the fun things going on right now: You love to "eat" wa...

16 months

Happy Birthday, baby boy. I swear you've been 16 months for a while now; this age seems to be your "forever 21" (yet it's only just begun!)  The month was full of excitement and you seemed to mature so much . You understand about 90% of what I say to you now, which has made my life a lot easier: "George, go get your shoes." "where is your coat?" "will you get me a diaper?"   It's very much working in my favor  :) Lots of new stuff going on this month: When I tell you it's time to go, you eagerly find your shoes and coat.  And if Sissy is dragging herself around (as 3 year olds stubbornly do!) , you happily get her shoes and coat too.  Team work, mah man! You're into everything: opening or climbing the oven (seriously.), turning on the TV through the cable box when I hide the remote, opening the dishwasher and taking dishes out, or trying to open doors (thank God for knobs!)...   reliving this through...

...and a Happy New Year!

We got back from Leavenworth Tuesday afternoon and have been enjoying a staycation in the 'Quah. Plans and expectations are light, but we've managed to get a few projects done around the house, spend an afternoon in town with the kids for New Years Eve, eat crab legs, miss the Time Square ball drop (party fail), and be in bed before 10pm on New Years Eve. Total party animals. Tomorrow, Kevin and I have a date night planned, but aside from that we're just relaxing and taking it all in. For now, it's off to Fred Meyer for some new space organizers. Craziness, I tell you. Happiest of new years  :)
