George is 3!

"No!  I FIVE!!"

I was met with this response every day leading up to your birthday.  Because Abigail just celebrated her fifth birthday, you seemed certain you should as well.  Lucky for us all, you finally gave into being 3.

Phew  ;)

You have become so social and engaging these past 6 months - I think school has really helped.  And, while you've been a late talker, words are certainly coming from every direction these past few weeks.  It's been really fun finally understanding what such a strong willed, determined little man has to say!

"I Joe Walk-nor Eh-war, da free" is what you will say when introducing yourself to others.  I have tried correcting both the name order and three vs the third, but you're set in your ways.

Here are some of the things we are loving about this stage with you:

  • You have an amazing memory and can recite parts of shows or songs after only watching / listening a couple times
  • You love calling us out when we burp.  "MAAAAAMAAAA!"  you laugh with a huge smile.
  • You still prefer jumping over walking
  • There are a few things we can say that really make you mad.  "Goodmorning Mr. GEORGE!" (what your teacher says to you) is by far one of the biggest set-offs.  "NO MO JO!!!" you yell back in reply.  Ha!
  • You rawr to scare us, and declare "ha! ha!" when playing the role of villain
  • You are beginning to understand the concept of time (especially as it relates to bedtime) so you negotiate with "no, five mih" when procrastinating (it doesn't matter that I just suggested 10 minutes... 5 is always the best option in your book)
  • Your choo-choos are your most prized possessions.  Your favorites are Gordon and Henry. A stuffed Dory that Uncle Mike gave you has also become a bedtime favorite.  I cannot count how many times Dad and I have scoured the house in search of Go (Gordon), Heh (Henry), or Doh (Dory) at bedtime.
  • You wear size 10 shoes, 3T pants, and 5T tops

Tonight we celebrated with dinner at Torerros.  I realized the other day that we've eaten here on your birthday every year so far, so it seemed only natural to continue the tradition.

As for your party, we will be celebrating this weekend with a Whistle Stop birthday party in Snoqualmie!  Festivities begin Sunday at 3pm, and it's sure to blow your mind.

I love you, Birthday Boy.  You bring such joy to our lives!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!
