Celebrating Grandpa

Our time in Leavenworth this past weekend was driven specifically for one cause: to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday!

Kevin, the kids, and I came over on Thursday afternoon / evening (the big kids came by train!), and Victor, Catherine, and Uncle Bob joined us on Friday.

It's always so nice spending time at the cabin with the entire family, and this past weekend was no exception. We celebrated over two big meals (a halibut feast on Friday, and a burger bar on Saturday) and spent lots of quality time together.

For the first time, the kids really enjoyed playing by themselves for hours on end, so I found myself able to relax more than I usually do. We played badminton, made bonfires, took walks, sat on the patio to take in the lovely weather, and just enjoyed time as a family.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound. Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day. This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love. Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day. Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ). You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
