We Bought a House!

We have been searching for months, going back and forth, not only on areas, but city vs. suburban life (it was a tough decision for us).  For so long we wanted to stay in the city, but when this house popped up in Issaquah, we knew it was the right move.

I will miss urban life, but I'm warming up to the idea of suburban living.  Things like a neighborhood pool, outdoor movie nights (Frozen is next - Abigail will love this!), having a fenced backyard for the kids to play, and the greenbelt / lake trails that run behind our house are all things I'm really looking forward to.

We wanted a home that hadn't been remodeled (to be the ones to make these fun decisions) and got just what we wanted - some awesome late-80s design  :)

We plan to paint and re-carpet before moving in, but the bigger projects will be a few years down the road.

So come take a tour with me.... I can't wait to show you!

The front living room

Dining room.
Painting the walls, removing the ceiling design, and replacing the chandelier will be our first move

Our beautiful 1986 kitchen  :)

Powder Room
Wainscoting, dark paint, stand alone sink, and new light fixture / mirror is in it's near future

Kitchen nook
I adore the French doors, but the yellow paint has GOT to go
The family room (off the kitchen)
I love the wood wall, but I think white built-ins will probably replace it (it's more practical for toy storage, ect)

Master Bedroom

Master Bath
(it rivals the kitchen for best vintage look!)

Bed #2

Bed #3

Bed #4

Kid's Bath
Backyard / Deck, which backs to a greenbelt

The Backyard
We will remove the step stones and hopefully move the shed to reclaim more yard

We have our work carved out for us but can't wait to get in and roll up our sleeves!

Our closing date is August 18th, but we plan to make carpet and paint decisions before then so that we can hit the ground running.

I know Kevin has missed his honey-do lists -  it'll be back in no time  :)

You're so lucky to have found such a beautiful house. The kitchen is to die for. I can see myself spending all day baking goodies there. Anyway, I hope you're enjoying your new home. I can't wait to see what you're planning to do with it. Take care! :)

Choosing a home is more than just the home. When we were house-hunting, we found the perfect home, with lots of rooms and a nice yard, but right next to a junkyard. And no matter what we would have invested in fixing it up, it wouldn't matter because of it's location. If you look long enough you'll find "the one."
