Halloween 2013

We had a great time at Mamie and Papa's Halloween party last night.

Anne let us borrow Lucy's Dorothy costume and my Mom spent the past few weeks making George's lion costume, so we went with an all-out OZ theme!

Minus the chaos of getting everyone ready, some cheap green makeup that turned my face bright red, and Abigail's twisted ankle, the evening was a success.

Driving over, Kevin reminded me how much harder it is doing these things with kids (he's referring to the fact that I insist on dressing up), and after wrangling four costumes together last night, I think I'm starting to agree.

Now I just have to remind my future self of this in 364 days  ;)

As I mentioned, this was Abigail's first year trick-or-treating but with a twisted ankle, she wasn't able to run around on her own, so she and Kevin went door to door.  In hindsight this probably worked better; I don't think she would walk up to strangers doors, even with us right behind.

We started with the big kids (Lucy, Oscar, the neighbor kids), then went rouge.  At her age, going door to door with 7 year olds doesn't work very well.

In the end we returned with a bag full of candy and a very happy toddler!

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Halloween!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.
