11 months

Abigail- only a mere month until the big oh-one.  Wow!

Now that the weather is getting nice, I'm starting to recall the blur that was late pregnancy and early newborn days.  What a wonderful blur it was!

You fill my life with love and an outlook unique to being your mother.  Each and every day I wake up anxious to be with you and see the world through your eyes- you have such a funny and caring outlook on life- I love it!

Here's a list of your newest "news" this month:

  • Between June 26th- July 5th three teeth have come through!  It's been a tough time (lots of ibuprofen), but you looks so cute with your little chompers.
  • You're pulling up to sit unassisted.  You're so amazed by your ability to do this that you get a huge smile on your face and clap for yourself every time!
  • Speaking of clapping, you love clapping when people cheer.  You understand that clapping signals a celebration of something- smart.
  • You shake your head to mean "no".  "Abigail, do you want more?" (you shake your head) "Abigail, can I have the remote back?"  (you shake your head) "Abigail, do you like Daddy better than Mommy?" (you shake your head) kidding, kidding ;)
  • Waving "bye-bye".  You mastered it yesterday for Mamie!  It's still tough getting you to wave on command, but I know you get it.  I've noticed that about you;  you "get" a lot of things, but most aren't worth your energy. You're a no-BS-kind-of-girl... like your Mama  :)
  • You enjoy pulling up to stand and seem very proud each time you do it.  You're still not sure how to get down without falling, but you really enjoy the two-foot-something view!
  • I can finally put bows in your hair!  This has opened our world to a whole new realm of fashion possibilities ;)

Abigail, you're getting smarter, funnier, and more curious by the day.  Every day you're discovering something new and I feel so privileged to spend my days exploring and discovering by your side.

Happy 11 months, girlfriend.

Mama loves you!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!
