La Isla: a little taste of Puerto Rico, right here in Ballard

You've probably seen it and passed by without a second thought.  Next time, do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite!

Last night Kevin and I went back to La Isla to check out their Happy Hour.  We came across it last month when the patio was packed and food overflowed from the counters....like a moth to a flame, in we went!  It was amazing, and we swore we'd be back to check out a wider selection of small plates on their  happy hour menu.

Dare I say it rivals Paseso?!

La Isla offers a daily Happy Hour from 3-6pm / 10pm-1am with reasonably priced small plates.  Last night we tried the pernil sliders (pork sliders), carne fritas, and the batatas fritas (fancy name for sweet potato fries).  Everything was amazing, and we walked away with a mere $18 dinner bill.

Honestly, this place is a must next time you're in the area, so check it out and let us know what you think!

Afterwards we joined some friends at the new Market Arms.  A fun, and not too busy English bar right on the corner of Market and 24th; it's a great place to grab a beer after work and catch up with friends.

So hey, Greenwood, please take note- we're hurting for good bars and restaurants!

Although, have you heard about The Yard?  There seems to be a glimmer of hope in ol' Greenwood....

Happy Friday everyone!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...
