Getting away to Port Townsend

We were sitting around yesterday deciding what we should do with the day (and trying to avoid the dreaded to-do list...) when Kevin came up with a great idea.  It's been forever since we got out of town on a whim, so why not head to Port Townsend and get a hotel for the night?

Yes please!

30 minutes later we had a room booked at The Swan and were headed for the 11am ferry to Kingston.  It was such a nice and unexpected recharge.

While waiting for our room we roamed around town and grabbed lunch at Courtyard Cafe; amazing deli style sandwiches and salads.

After checking in we walked around town, went shopping (we found some cute baby clothes!), and stopped for coffee at a little place near the water.  We ended the evening with dinner at T's Restaurant on the point.

Yes, there was a lot of eating, but when you're pregnant, that's about all you can do!

After an amazing 11 hours of sleep (this kid's taking it out of me!) we went on a walk down to the beach, then headed to breakfast at Hudson Point Cafe.  Their crab cakes with poached eggs are to die for.

We headed back around noon and while we didn't miss the traffic, the ferry wait gave us time to get a sweet tooth fix in Kingston: a brownie sunday for Kevin, and the root beer float for me!

It was a great Memorial Day weekend.

Time spent at a BBQ with good friends on Saturday, an unexpected getaway last night, then a BBQ with Anne, Ian, and the kids tonight made for a perfectly relaxing weekend.

Hope everyone's weekend was just as memorable!

Yeah! Kevin had shown me this place last time we went up there...said he stayed there with you guys once. We really loved it and thought maybe next time the 4 of us can go and get the two bedroom place on the top floor (looking out over the water)!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.
