Ben is Two

...and now I'm a mother of either toddlers or little kids, but no babies.  It's been an odd few months not pregnant or with a newborn, but it's also been nice to slow down a bit and focus on each kid and their growth.

And Ben, have you ever grown!

You are my crazy, spirited little man who is smart as a whip and funny as can be.  You sure know how to hold your own around here; whether it's screaming to get attention, pushing someone in an attempt to stand up for yourself, or repeating "Mommy, mommy, Mommy!" until I finally reply, NOTHING you do goes unnoticed (awesome for you, stressful for me).

You love playing with the big kid's toys (George's paw patrol stash is the latest craze), but remind me of your littleness with your unending love of Elmo.  Thomas has also become a new favorite and I'm glad we're getting our money's worth from George's 2 year train obsession.

Things have been crazy busy these past couple months with travel, birthdays, Uncle Victor's wedding, and school starting, but we are slowly finding a rhythm and it's been fun spending more one-on-one time with you while the big kids are at school (the picture above was taken at Krispy Kreme after dropping George and Abigail off together for the first time this year.  Yay us!)

Here's what's new:
  • You're talking up a storm.  If I had to guess I'd say you have around 75-100 words by now
  • You either love saying hi and bye to everyone or you're super antisocial and glare shamelessly at strangers who just want "that sweet boy" to smile at them  (looks can be deceiving..)
  • You learned to roll down the car window with your toe and enjoy driving me mad with your new skill
  • You continue to be a great sleeper, napping from 11:30-2:30pm, and sleeping at night from 6:30pm-7:30am
  • Your favorite food is "Ba Ba Ba" (peanut butter - ha!) and your favorite song is "Ba Ba Say" (Party in the USA 😂)
  • You're incredibly independent (except when you want to be held 24/7 😜) but love getting yourself ready or putting on your shoes - Sissy's flower boots are your fashion staple.
  • You yell instead of talk to Mabel -"Bo Bo, NO!!" is usually what you say, or "Bo Bo outside!!" The fact that you yell at our pets is more a reflection of my behaviors than yours (remind me again why we have a dog??)

Since your birthday fell on a Saturday this year we celebrated here at the house.  We got everyone you a new bouncy house for your birthday and were joined by family and friends for an afternoon of fun.

Here are some pictures from your big day:

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.
