George's First Day of School

Lots of firsts for George this week!

Yesterday George started school at Evergreen Academy.  The plan had been that he would go to summer camp there with Abigail, but camp is for 3-5 year olds, and although they were willing to give him an age exception, we decided instead to enroll him now-August in the Early Preschool.

This way he's able to socialize with kids his own age, and I have someone helping me potty train him ;)

Yesterday was great!  Kevin took him to school and he walked right in, took his teacher's hand, and was off.  When I came to get him at noon, he was sitting at a table eating lunch with friends, and as he heard me come in, he turned happily to greet me: "mama!"  He did however get reprimanded by the teacher on his way out when he pushed another little boy who was in his way.  Asserting himself is not an issue for George!

Today, however, he was shy.  Kevin says he hid behind his hands and didn't engage as quickly (which is to be expected, but it still pulls at my heart strings).  I'm going to pick him up in an hour, so I'm hoping he warmed up and had a great day.

Here are some pictures from yesterday.  I took him to the front step for first day of school pictures.  At first he refused to turn around, so I have some funny ones  ;)

This boy.  He slays me.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!
