eight months

Life has been a whirlwind this past week.  George was sick, then toward the end of the week it was go-time getting everything ready for your baptism.  After spending a few nights in Leavenworth after your big day, we got home Tuesday evening and are finally getting back to the swing of things; George and Abigail are both off to school this morning, you're taking your morning nap, and I'm blogging with coffee in hand (we win!)

Things have been so busy and it's hard to believe how fast you're growing.  You went down hard for nap this morning, so once Abigail was off to school, I spent 15-20 minutes nursing and rocking you to sleep.  I usually put you down awake for morning nap (honestly, for lack of time) but this morning I reveled in all things baby; staying there with you in our rocking chair, breathing in those sweet baby smells that too soon will be gone.

So much has happened this past month and you're growing up before my very eyes!

Here's what's new:

  • Puffs keep you busy at breakfast while everyone runs around getting ready for the day
  • You love veggies (peas are the favorite).  Fruit is a bit sweet for your taste buds, and a funny face always follows a bite.
  • You start spitting your food at me when you're done eating
  • You've got the fuzziest, stick straight hair; according to Mamie, it's just like Dad's when he was little .  Funny thing is, the top 1/4" is super blonde while the rest (which came in really fast) is darker, more strawberry colored (like me and G!)
  • Diaper changes are hilarious to you, and you love kicking your legs side to side (and reaching down to check things out- such a boy!)
  • You're Army crawling / worm scooting everywhere and it's becoming neglectful of me not to have baby gates up (third baby problems!)
  • You broke your first two teeth: bottom left on 5/12 and bottom right on 5/16, and you're quite certain nursing is the perfect time to teeth away the pain  :/
  • You prefer cold bottles over warm ones
  • You now enjoy taking baths and just last night, we loaded the three of you in together!
  • In your attempt to crawl, you've shown great form in the planking and downward dog positions

I'm so happy to have a wonderful baptism weekend under our belts and now relish in the calm.  God knows it will end a few days from now when you'll no doubt be crawling everywhere!

You are loved beyond words, baby boy.

 Happy 8 months.
