We bundled up the kids on Thursday night and went downtown to meet Santa and have a fancy dinner! ("fancy" translated into young family language = P.F. Chang's)
Granted this was Abigail's third year, but it was the first year she was really aware of him, so we played it up all day:
"We are going to see Santa tonight and he is going to bring you presents!!! What are you going to ask him for?!"
"Cheese!!" and later that day, "Dada!!"
(okay, so a stocking filled with cheese sticks and a bow on Dada's head. Got it.)
Abigail spotted him immediately. She was hesitant but not hysterical, so we placed her on Santa's lap and slowly walked away. Of course she refused to look at him, smile, or say so much as "hello", but a meltdown there was not.
The look on her face says it all :)
Then there was George. So long as he was rockin' his bow tie, he was all good!
Of course the moment we were done, Abigail was intrigued; spinning around to steal another glance and shyly waving to him from behind my leg.
I think she's secretly a fan on you, Santa.
