Bellingham or Bust

I've been itching to get away.  So much so that this song had been stuck in my head for days (and thus became the theme song to our weekend).

I was craving roadside-style accommodations with all the amenities: pool, ice / vending machines, and overpriced movie rentals, so we headed up to Bellingham last Saturday night!

Nothing fancy (per the request), so we stayed at the Best Western Express, complete with evening cookies and a make-your-own pancake machine (does life get any better?!)

We got in on Saturday afternoon (travel time = nap time) and spent the day enjoying the sun in Fairhaven.

There were a few new (to us) places:
  • Wild Blueberries: where we got Abigail's adorable harness backpack  ;)
  • Avenue Bread: they make an out-of-this-world pesto goat cheese roll.  I'll be back for you, my pretty!

Then it was off to our hotel for pool time, an evening stroll through Bellingham, dinner at Lorenzo's, and an unexpected night cap at the local arcade.  (who would have thought...)

Pool time!
The highlight of the trip for Abigail was roaming the hallways on her own

Score!  Vending machine heaven
What started out as a game got serious pretty quickly.
Abigail played this game all by herself and even won two tickets!

Partners in crime (and Skee Ball)

The princess and her prize fighter.
The wand, necklace and braclet are what Kevin won with his tickets- what a Dad!

(okay, so maybe we spent a little too much time at the arcade...)

Time to plan our next getaway; preferably by plane!

Oh, the things Kevin puts up with...  :)

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.
