Love Is In The Air

Last Thursday's Valentine's Day celebration went down in history as my favorite to date!

Kevin and I are funny about this little Hallmark holiday.  Every year we play it cool and make the same casual comments:

"Yeah, Valentine's Day is stupid..."

"Let's save some money and not celebrate this year"

"It's such a cheesy holiday..."

Then, as the date approaches, the conversation evolves:

"Well, I just got you a little something..."

"Flowers would be nice.  Just flowers."

"Did you see that HUGE box of chocolates at the store?!"

And so, by the time February 14th rolls around, we've invariable spent a few casual bucks on a not-so-casual gesture.

This year we farmed Abigail off for the evening and enjoyed a night on the town: shopping, dinner at Benihana, then to see a movie (Argo).

I figured the date night was our unspoken "not-so-casual" gesture, but Kevin one-upped me with flowers, a card, and a heart shaped balloon when he walked through the door after work (playing Etta James on speaker phone, none the less).

Well played Mr. Lauckner, well played...

We got to the movie a little early... the first one's there.

I hope everyone enjoyed a fun, romantic, and casually uncelebrated holiday as well   :)

Valentine's day last year, the year before, and proof that we're posers (this was moments before I received the flowers).

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!

A Suburban NYE

We partied hard with neighbors for New Year's Eve this year, and it was perfect - no need to dress up, tackle crowds, or spend big bucks - add to that great friends who are also neighbors, and it's a win/win.
