Giving Thanks

Am I finally getting around to posting pictures from Thanksgiving?

That alone gives me thanks!

As many of you know, each year we head to Leavenworth for Thanksgiving weekend.  The tradition started years ago when my paternal Grandparents built a cabin in Chumpstick (on the property where my Grandma grew up).  We used to travel over every year to spend the weekend at the cabin: sleeding, playing, eating, and relaxing.  It was perfect.

Years later they sold the property, and our Thanksgiving tradition ceased.  However, a few years ago after my Grandmother passed away, we decided to pick up the tradition again- this time renting a cabin in the area.

So here we are on our third year of this new / revised tradition.  It is something Kevin and I look forward to each holiday season, and a tradition I hope lasts for many years to come.

This year's festivities took place at the Peterson Cabin in Plain, WA.

It was a beautiful cabin with all the ammenties: hot tub, fire pit, beautiful fireplace, and a fully stocked kitchen.  Add to that all the amazing food and wine... what more could a girl ask for?!

We headed up on Wednesday night.  When we got there it was dark, but beautiful.  Here's a picture I took the next morning at sunrise.  Georgeous property!

All in all, it was a very laid back, restful weekend highlighted by a few fun events....

Event #1: It snowed ALL DAY Thanksgiving Day!

The boys spent most of the day hanging out drinking beers by the fire pit.

Abigail's first snow!  She was curious but hesitant...
ice cold snow falling on her face isn't exactly what baby dreams are made of  ;)

Event #2: Robert and Marie joined us this year, which meant two babies to play with!!

Abigail and Oskar had a great time hanging out, and all of us had a great time watching them!

Oskar rubbing Abigail's head to stimulate hair growth  ;)

Abigail trying to steal Oskar's hair by eating it off!

If you look by Oskar's hand, you can see the spray from his sneeze  :)

Event #3: A fried bird, delicious food, and amazing family!

Dad heading out to cook up the bird!

Tell me Kevin doesn't have a slight Kenny resemblance here?!

Event #4: Abigail had her first taste of real food at Thanksgiving dinner: sweet potatoes!

Video added for your viewing pleasure  :)

Event #5:  Shopping in Leavenworth on Friday.

Abigail has finally gotten the hang of the Baby Bjorn (yay!), so I toted her around until she got sleepy and fell asleep in Daddy's arms.

And finally, event #5: A walk to the river with a beautiful view!

It was such a delightful celebration this year with so many memories and good times.

And of course, having Abigail with us was the best part of all!

Hope each of you had an equally memorable and joyous Thanksgiving celebration.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
