Santorini, Part 2

Okay, let's hope the formatting works this time! Left off on our first night in Santorini (long post!), so I need to make these entries a bit shorter!

Anyway, few pics of us running around being tourist in Fira...

After our morning coffee and a quick chat with Rebecca, we headed out to rent an ATV for 3 days in hopes of covering more of the island...so glad we did...we got to see just about every corner of this amazing place!

Kevin was picked up by a big Greek guy who spoke no English, but was told Kevin would be the guy wearing the Mercedes Benz t-shirt...ha!
About an hour later, Kevin was back to get me...we pulled on our helmets (a habit we soon ditched) and headed out. First stop- the gas station!

Then it was off to the beach....Kevin in the driver seat with me in tow.

Interior of the island

We got lost a time or two, but found some really cool places.

Finally, we made it to Perissa! Drove down the "strip" and checked out all the different places to lay out...they went from laid back to super snotty, but we found a nice in between and cozzied up for the afternoon with a few Corona's, a floaty, and a good book.

After a long day at the beach, we made the mistake of fitting in a visit to Oia and after only a short time in the heat and crowds, it was back to the ATV. Beautiful, but it could wait a day or two; the heat had taken it out of us.

Back to Imerovigli for a relaxing sunset dinner at La Maison

The next morning it was up with the sun and off to explore Oia! We would find our favorite spot that morning: The Bay of Amadou (ama-dewy, as we called it)  :)

Walked down a small pathway at the far end of the village and found this awesome swim spot (which we returned to in the days to come).

This is also where we found the "nude reader" who made a camio in our Facebook pictures...

Took the ATV up to Oia after lunch to walk around and snap some shots....Oia is the most photographed village in the Greek Island.

It's a beautiful place, but a little crowded and touristy for our taste. Gorgeous, none the less!

The plan had been to head home for dinner, but after falling in love with the Bay of Amadou, going back for a sunset dinner only seemed right...the perfect choice!

Sunset was amazing and the food was phenominal. We got a tour of the kicthen and viewed all the fresh catch. We settled on swordfish, fried mullet, rock fish, musscles, salad and fried cheese...amazing meal! Post meal was spent watching the sunset and relaxing.

Wanna guess what we did the next morning? Went back to the Bay, of course! Seriously, we had a sick addiction to this place....and how could you not, it was a quiet gem in the midst of a bustling Greek island and the perfect hooneymoon reprive.

We finally tore ourselves away (afterall, it was our last day with the ATV) and headed to Red Beach...a great place for pictures, a crappy place for relaxing...unless you like relaxing with 100s of tourist. But a great picture below from the cliff- this was as far as we got :)

Lucky for us, we found a beach down the road where we stopped off for a swim. It was a nude beach...big plus for Kev and his "people watching" skillz ;)

Once back home, I did a "load of laundry" (some things never change, even on vacation!) then laid by the pool and hung out with our friends Dan and Steph from Boston....they left that day and we missed them the rest of our trip.

Dan and Steph stocked our fridge with their leftover beer before leaving, so we felt inclinded to enjoy our little treats...for the rest of our relaxing night ;)

I'm sure you get the point!

Next day (last full day) was our first without the ATV. While we loved having it, getting back to the pavement and seeing things in slow motion again was nice. Relaxed by the pool all morning, then headed back to Fira one last time ...a relaxing last day in Santorini.

We made the mistake of grabbing dessert at a nice resturant in Fira. two chocolate dishes, two horrible glasses of wine, and 54 euro...yes EURO! later, we left feeling bittersweet about our post dinner choice. But a cool resturant and view....check it out.

The next morning it was time to pack up and head to the ferry terminal for what would be the first of many delayed ferries. Seriously, the Greek's and their ferries are worse than the Italian's and their trains!

Either way, we were excitted to be off for our next adventure- Paros!
