Bye Daddy

We have another word: "Bye" And she sounds so cute saying it!  Like a southern lady at the turn of the century; slightly drawn out, with a flirty tone.  It's to die for (but of course I think that, I'm her Mom). Most mornings we go to the window and wave bye to Daddy.  Abigail loves doing this; she bangs on the window, and gets a kick out of seeing Kevin wave back. Kevin and Abigail have an adorable relationship. They love to joke around, play guitar and drums, wrestle, and play tricks on one another. But sometimes it's hard being a Dad.  Playing second fiddle to the Mom-and-me-til-we-die bond proves challenging. Do you read The Honest Toddler?  There's a lovely post from a while ago which really sums up the Baby / Dad relationship ( read here ) Abigail and Dad playing music on her first day home from the hospital Abigail celebrates her Dad's 31st birthday and her 11th day of life (August 2011) 9 weeks old.  Dad and Abi...

Grandma's Diary

As I've mentioned, Abigail goes to my parent's place on Mondays and Fridays. Every so often Kevin and I get a note from Grandma, so I thought it would be fun to start a Grandma's Diary section and track all the fun things she writes to us about Abigail. Here's one from yesterday: Abigail was so delightful and especially funny today. A couple highlights: After her first diaper change, which I did in her play room on the carpet, she quickly turned over just after I removed the old diaper and cleaned her up.  She was scrambling away with her bare bottom facing me as she was smiling, looking back and waving and saying so clearly bye...bye... bye... .......... A while later she held out her closed hand as if to hand me something.  As I put out my hand to capture whatever she had inside, she quickly opened that hand and there was nothing in it.  She then giggled and held out her other hand, opened it, and there was a small toy.  She was trying to trick me a...

The Fishy Costume

As some of you may know, Abigail wasn't the first to wear the fishy costume. Lucy was! Awh.  Just look at that adorable, chubby babe! Several years ago I found this costume at a children's store and got the idea to dress her up while we babysat one day.  To entertain ourselves, we got the costume on a reluctant Lucy, grabbed our camera, and headed to the park to take pictures. Everyone who walked by would comment: "What an adorable chicken!" "Oh look- it's a fishy!" "A dinosaur!" (really people??) Lucy sure entertained the crowds that day and put a smile on everyone's face.  It made me so happy to see Abigail in it this year, bringing smiles to even more passersby. So thank you Lucy, for letting Abigail borrow your fishy costume. She's done your legacy proud.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from the world's first driving fish! Abigail's having fun in her fishy costume today.  She can't see very well, and she's having trouble getting in and out of her car with all the "bulk", but she's a sport. She took a long nap today and woke up happy and chatty. I went in her room to find her like this.. I love this girl. Stay safe and dry out there tonight.

Halloween: Part 1

We're knee deep in Halloween 2012! It's fun celebrating with a toddler who seems to understand the concept of dress-up.  I've been able to suit her up as both Pepples Flinstone and a fish without complaint. Saturday night Elle and Vanessa hosted a fun Halloween party where Kevin, myself, Abigail, Dan, Anne, and Henry went as The Flintstones.  It was so much fun going as a group, and the kids had a great time at the party; playing with drum sticks, dinosaurs, and party straws. Two pre-party pictures of the gang: Abigail and Henry partied until 10:30pm!  Abigail loved watching everyone dance in the dining room (we even joined for a bit).  She would sit on her knees, rocking back and forth, and smile from ear to ear.  It was adorable. She also attempted to ride Henry earlier in the night. I look over and there's Henry crawling around, Abigail positioned by his side, one leg up over his back.  I guess he looked sturdy enough  ;) Last yea...

Pumpkin Pickin'

Sunday afternoon we drove to The Farm at Swan's Trail  in search of this year's Great Pumpkin. Anne, John, Carolyn, and the kids weren't around to partake in the second annual Carve-o-Rama , but we had a blast petting bunnies, hanging out with llamas, and searching for the perfect pumpkin with Mamie and Papa. A new tradition! The weather held nicely and although the place was packed, we found our groove and had a blast. Petting bunnies. Daddy and Abigail found a bunny in the corner that wasn't moving and let Abigail pet her. Abigail was sick on Tuesday with a horrible fever; we assume no correlation...  :) Checking out the Mama and Baby llamas Mamie and Kevin search for their pumpkin Strolling through the patch. Those gnarly clouds held out- thank goodness! So much fun.  Hopefully next year Lucy, Oscar, and Charlie will join us! *** On a seasonally related note, Abigail and I went to Grandma's yesterday for Ab...
