Two and a Half

Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!

I've been waiting 6 long months to talk All Things Abigail, and while I know it was time to let monthly updates go, it's been hard. (I love gushing about my babies)

There has been SO much that's happened since August:

George was born and you became a Big Sister

You dressed up as Dorothy for Halloween

We spent Thanksgiving in Leavenworth (you spent the weekend happily playing with the "balls" on the Christmas tree)

We celebrated Christmas as a family of four

Enjoyed a laid back New Years Eve (we jeweled out George and you chowed down on shrimp cocktail!)

We bought a new car

You got your first haircut

And we celebrated a Seahawks Super Bowl win!

(Phew!)

We've been busy, and it's hard to believe it's only been 6 months since your birthday.

In that time you became a big sister and I cannot begin to explain the love George has for you.  You enchant him and produce huge smiles that not even his most milk drunk moment can beat.  He looks up to you and adores you- it is so obvious already.  Watching the two of you together has been the highlight of the past six months; sometimes I think my heart might explode watching you two together, but somehow I'm still here  :)

We started speech therapy a few months ago and it's been going really well.  You love hanging out with Rosemary (your speech therapist) on Monday afternoons; blowing bubbles, eating puffs, and chatting together.  We've been amazed at your progress these past few weeks and can't wait to hear you begin talking more.  You sure love to chat, so it will be fun to see the real words behind all your stories!

Here are some fun facts from the past 6 months:

  • Your blocks, balls, and dollhouse are your favorite toys.  You love making "the tallest tower in the world!"  (A Daniel Tiger reference), hoarding balls, playing dollhouse with Dada for hours on end (eat, sleep, baby cries- repeat), and most recently have an issue with sharing anything with George.  We're working on that...
  • Speaking of Daniel, Daniel Tiger and Curious George are still your favorite TV shows.  When you want to watch "Ga! Ga! Ga!" (your word for TV, don't ask.) you reply with either "Ah! Ah! Ah!" (monkey sounds for C. George) or you start singing the Daniel Tiger theme song to watch that show.  This is just one example of how you get by communicating without words  :)
  • You love to pretend-nurse Dolly, Cinderella Barbie, and your Playmobile dolls, and I often find you with your shirt lifted, and one of these friends beneath it. The funniest was watching Cinderella Barbie nurse Prince Charming.  Everyone is well fed around here  :)
  • Cheese is still your favorite food.  You intake so much dairy that I have you drinking almond milk now.  You don't seem to mind a bit.
  • You love playing with your jewels (as I type this you are wearing your bracelet and attempting to walk down the hall in heels)
  • We started potty training a bit, but you mainly enjoy watching me go potty and randomly flushing toilets...baby steps
  • You can't stand having your hair washed
  • When we want to get you to do something, we prentend to get on the phone and ask our caller: "oh hi, can Abigail take a bite?" (we waiting for you to take a bite of food...) "Yes!  Yes, Abigail can take a bite!"  You smile every time
  • When putting you to bed, you insist I kiss Dolly and Cat.  That's after the manditory Twinkle, Twinkle, and You Are My Sunshine, that I sing to you each night.  As I leave the room, you happily yell "bye!"

You are at such a fun age where each day you delight us with your new antics.  Watching you grow into such a fun loving, smart little girl has been a highlight of my life.

I adore you, Bitsy Girl.

Happy 2.5

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
