9 Months

Happy 9 months, baby boy. Time is moving quickly and your birthday is fast approaching   (your FIRST BIRTHDAY!) You are growing more each day, really starting to play with and enjoy your sister, getting into everything, and keeping me on my toes constantly. Here are some Fun Facts at 9 months: We keep bathroom doors closed at all times; your favorite new activity is splashing in toilet water  :) You have six (SIX!) teeth You're on a 2/3/3 schedule We transitioned to your convertible car seat You're obsessed with Abigail's Potty book and actual potty (see above!) You're constantly pinch your fingers in the kitchen doors and drawers You have an odd habit of putting your hand in my mouth while nursing (luckily you don't nurse well in public, so we save ourselves the odd looks) You wear size 3 diapers and Abigail wears 5's, but since you wear her diapers at night anyway, I condensed the diaper order to all 5's.  Simplicity is golden. Happy Dada Day

Father's Day was one for the books this year, but not in the traditional sense. I had been sick the week before and was coming off a cold, so I wasn't much in planning mode.  Here's how the day went down: Kevin slept in (probably his highlight!) Abigail insisted on cake for breakfast (we kept talking about Dada Day, so she figured any good celebration should include cake), so at her request, we served her cake (a muffin), put a candle in it, and sang her Happy Birthday. Kevin vacuumed the living room I was exhausted, so Kev brought the kids to the YMCA while I stayed home and napped Kevin made lunch while I hung with the kiddos (See, not traditional Father's Day fun...) When they got back, we hung out for a bit before heading to Mamie and Papa's to spend the afternoon with them.  Mamie made delicious brats for dinner and strawberry pie for dessert, but right around 5 o'clock I started feeling sick...and it got worse. By the time we left, I was ...

It's a Framer!

Abigail came home from school today with her first frame-worthy art project and it's just too cute for words! She made it last week for the all-school Art Walk :) Now we just need a frame.... and a home to hang it in! Happy Friday, everyone

Blue Sky, Green Vines, Can't Lose!

Kevin and I escaped to Walla Walla last weekend for some much needed time away.  We devoured every (kid free) moment together while Abigail and George stayed with Mamie and Papa to enjoy a weekend full of sweet treats and fun outings. We stayed at Areus and were once again impressed with our gracious host, accommodations, and breath taking grounds.   We are pretty familiar with wineries in the West and airport regions, so we focused on the South this time and while we were charmed by the beautiful tasting rooms and breathtaking views of the Blue Mountains, our attempt to find new wine we love proved fruitless  (pun totally intended)  ;) We did however hit up a few old favorites: 3 Rivers, and Charles Smith (of K Vitner), and were delighted with a new discovery: Pepperbridge. Long Shadows tasting room and Chihuly glass Enjoying the sunshine at our belov...

Mother's Day Weekend, 2014

We enjoyed a fun, relaxing Mother's Day in Sequim this year. The plan was to leave bright and early Friday morning (around 5:30-6am) when George usually wakes, but we ended up closer to 8am.   With our track record, that's close enough  :) The kids enjoyed the ferry ride.  Abigail and Kevin played on the deck while George and I sat inside eating oatmeal (George hasn't learned how to breath in the wind, so the ferry deck terrifies him).   We got to the place, baby-proofed everything (removing all knick-knacks, and half of the furniture), then settled in to enjoy a weekend at the beach.   Later in the day we drove to Port Townsend for dinner at Addie Mae's (ah-mazing!)  Then back at the place that evening, Abigail and I shared a room ( she doesn't sleep well in unknown places; who can blame her) , and Kevin and George had the other room.  Did I mention it was a romantic weekend ...

George's First Teeth!

George's first tooth came in yesterday- his top left! And as you can see, the top right isn't far behind.   Keep it up and Jaws might become your new nickname, GG! Teethers and anything chewable have become necessity, and nursing when he's playful has been interesting :) This morning the bottom two also broke through, so I'm thinking we'll have 4 visable teeth by this weekend. Let the fun begin ;) (Abigail's first tooth !)

8 Months

Hi GG! These months are flying by, and it's hard to believe you're closer to being a one year old than a newborn. We met up for a playdate with an old friend of mine yesterday.  Our play time fell during your morning nap, so I rocked you to sleep in my arms then placed you on our blanket in the shade.  Watching you lay there fast asleep reminded me that while you're growing up so fast, you really are still a wee-one. Active as always, you enjoy the freedom mobility buys.  You love exploring around the house, pulling up to Abigail's booster to snack off her tray, or standing at the water table and splashing away.  But being active comes with a price; you have lots of bumps and bruises to show for all your hard work  :) Sleep continues to be a rough patch (waking at 5:30am each day), but you're starting to take two solid 1.5-2 hour naps a day, so it's a step in the right direction. Here are some fun facts this month:...
