8 Months

Hi GG!

These months are flying by, and it's hard to believe you're closer to being a one year old than a newborn.

We met up for a playdate with an old friend of mine yesterday.  Our play time fell during your morning nap, so I rocked you to sleep in my arms then placed you on our blanket in the shade.  Watching you lay there fast asleep reminded me that while you're growing up so fast, you really are still a wee-one.

Active as always, you enjoy the freedom mobility buys.  You love exploring around the house, pulling up to Abigail's booster to snack off her tray, or standing at the water table and splashing away.  But being active comes with a price; you have lots of bumps and bruises to show for all your hard work  :)

Sleep continues to be a rough patch (waking at 5:30am each day), but you're starting to take two solid 1.5-2 hour naps a day, so it's a step in the right direction.

Here are some fun facts this month:
  • You're breaking your first 4 teeth right now (not a typo!).  Your top left is coming first, followed closely by the bottom two and your top right
  • You are very aware of when I'm around and hate when I leave the room. You're a Momma's boy, and I love it  :)
  • Playing peek-a-boo in the dinning room mirror cracks you up
  • You enjoy shutting doors then standing up behind them. Opening a door without you falling has become an art form.
  • You love self feeding: baby cookies, bananas, potato salad, dried fruit, and steamed veggies are the favs.  Your also enjoy taking bites of our food (especially my sandwiches when I'm eating with one hand and holding you with the other)
  • You're amazed by the ceiling fan and large stuffed Marlin in the kitchen.
  • The walker and activity table are your current favorite toys
  • You hate the car seat and stroller.  Anything that restricts movement is a no-go in GG's world.
This month we've got Auntie Carolyn coming to town and Dad and I are going on our first kid-free weekend away since you were born.  I can't wait (!), but I'll miss you like crazy.

I love you, Baby Boy.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
