Two and a Half

Alright, little man - it's your turn!

This adorable, funny baby turned two and a half this past weekend.

Ben got the gist of half birthdays the day before, so I'm not sure he was shocked to wake up the morning of his half birthday to a room full of groupies (us) singing him "Happy Half Birthday" at the top of our lungs.

In true Ben fashion, he was not thrilled with the bombardment and promptly asked us to stop - "No!  Get out! Shut up!" were, I believe, his exact words  ðŸ™ˆ

His very forward, assertive personality endears me to him endlessly - I love having someone on my aggressive personality team - and he's constantly saying hilariously mean things, like just today:

(in a general parenting / learning moment)

Me: "Ben, that's not appropriate"
B: "No, Mama - YOU not ah-poh-pee-at!!"

Then there was the other day when I was telling him how he could not take two lollipops from the basket at the gym (only one).  I felt I was really driving my point home until he looked at me suddenly with total determination:

"No. I have two.  Just stop talking!!"

Or here's one more: the fact that he says "me-me-boo-boo" when trying to make someone mad 😂

One of these days we will have to start down the slow road of learning to be nice to others (preschool in the Fall will help, I'm sure), but I would be lying to say I don't find our current season of life with Ben extremely entertaining.

Anyway, Ben Ben - here is your first ever birthday interview!

Since you're such a chatty guy I thought you would do pretty well with the questions.  You did great for your age, and will no doubt have much more to say as the years go on:

Happy Half birthday to my favorite side kick and soul mate!

I love you so much Me-wan-ah 💖

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
