Roll Up, Roll Up

We celebrated George's first birthday with a circus themed affair last weekend and had so much fun catching up with family and friends! As always, I found myself running around, having less than full conversations with every person I spoke to, and feeling generally frazzled, but such is the life of the hostess :) (as I say at the end of each party: next year I'll hire a caterer and photographer!) In keeping with a circus themed event, we had a bouncy house, hot dog bar, peanuts, kid friendly popcorn (cheese puffs), pin the nose on the clown, and a circus tent smash cake. It was such a fun party! The red dye on George's cake was a bit much for our birthday boy, but once he found his way around it, it was a smooth sailing sugar rush! Of course Abigail joined in on the smash  :) After having her hair and face grabbed by a cake covered brother, she figured he owed her a few bites! Getting bathed and cleaned up too...

Happy Birthday, George!

My baby is one! Wait, my baby is ONE?! Looking at you, with your big smile and puppy dog face (and hands, and feet!) , it's hard to imagine life before you.  Sure we existed, but having you in our family this past year has added more joy, laughter, and love than I ever thought possible. Who knew that crazy, stormy day would bring one of the brightest lights my heart would ever know. You are your sister's #1 side kick, Daddy's puppy, and my favorite buddy ever!  Simply put, you charm us. You woke up early this morning (6am) ready to celebrate, and spent the day playing in the circus tent and walking around with the TV remote attached to your paw. Tonight we went to Torerros with Dad, Sissy, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Victor, and Catherine to celebrate.  You loved eating ice cream and cruising around the restaurant after dinner. We told them it was your birthday, and when everyone came to the table singing to you, you looked up in total awe.  Never m...

Home, Sweet Home

We made it through our first full week! Everyone is doing great and acclimating well to the new environment.  I was worried that it might be too much change for the kids (especially for Abigail starting a new school, moving to a new house, and into a new "big" bed all in one week) but no one seems worse for the wear. As a matter of fact, even our terrible little sleeper (George) has been mostly quiet through the night. Hallelujah! The week has been full of Target runs (where I've single-handedly managed to spend half our life savings), a laundry list of projects, and emotions that have run the gamete from "I feel like we're playing house!" to "Oh sh.t, what have we done?" , but at the end of the day, we are so happy to be here.   The kids love the house, our neighbors are amazing (we have so many neighbor kids that ride their bikes down the street every day, and Abigail is ever eager to join) , and the amenities of our neighborho...

George is walking!

George has been taking steps for a couple weeks now, but this past weekend he stepped up his game (pun intended) to (almost) full time! He's so proud of his careful steps and beams with delight as he crosses a room. He's doing really well with turns and stepping over toys; it shouldn't be long until he's running!
