Happy Birthday, George!

My baby is one!

Wait, my baby is ONE?!

Looking at you, with your big smile and puppy dog face (and hands, and feet!), it's hard to imagine life before you.  Sure we existed, but having you in our family this past year has added more joy, laughter, and love than I ever thought possible.

Who knew that crazy, stormy day would bring one of the brightest lights my heart would ever know.

You are your sister's #1 side kick, Daddy's puppy, and my favorite buddy ever!  Simply put, you charm us.

You woke up early this morning (6am) ready to celebrate, and spent the day playing in the circus tent and walking around with the TV remote attached to your paw.

Tonight we went to Torerros with Dad, Sissy, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Victor, and Catherine to celebrate.  You loved eating ice cream and cruising around the restaurant after dinner.

We told them it was your birthday, and when everyone came to the table singing to you, you looked up in total awe.  Never mind the ice cream sitting right in front of you, you wanted to absorb every moment of attention.

And then you focused on your ice cream  :)

You have grown so much in the past few weeks and have transitioned to a toddler before our very eyes!

Here are your new news this month:
  • "Dat!" (while pointing at something) and "uh-oh" are your go-to words
  • The TV remote is your favorite toy
  • You love baths and pools and think splashing is hilarious
  • Coughing and sneezing crack you up
  • You're walking everywhere!
  • You're still taking 2 naps a day.  1 1/2-2 hours in the morning around 9:30, and 2 hours in the afternoon around 1-1:30
  • You've started sleeping through the night but wake at 6am.  On the nights you still wake to nurse (between 2-4am), you will sleep until 7am.
  • When you're especially happy to see us in the morning / after naps, you kick your knees up toward your tummy, wrapping your arms around me tight, and give what I call The Frog Hug  :)
  • You wear 12-18 month clothes and size 5 1/2 shoes
  • You enjoy going down the slide at the park

Sadly, you came down with Sissy's cold today, so we put you to bed early in hopes that you'll feel better tomorrow (and fully recovered for your party on Saturday)

Tomorrow we go to your one year appointment, so baby stats are still to come!

I love you more than all the stars, my sweet boy.

A happiest of birthdays to you

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
