Home, Sweet Home

We made it through our first full week!

Everyone is doing great and acclimating well to the new environment.  I was worried that it might be too much change for the kids (especially for Abigail starting a new school, moving to a new house, and into a new "big" bed all in one week) but no one seems worse for the wear.

As a matter of fact, even our terrible little sleeper (George) has been mostly quiet through the night.

Hallelujah!

The week has been full of Target runs (where I've single-handedly managed to spend half our life savings), a laundry list of projects, and emotions that have run the gamete from "I feel like we're playing house!" to "Oh sh.t, what have we done?", but at the end of the day, we are so happy to be here.

The kids love the house, our neighbors are amazing (we have so many neighbor kids that ride their bikes down the street every day, and Abigail is ever eager to join), and the amenities of our neighborhood (pool, walking trails, playgrounds) have been fun to explore.

George's favorite thing to do is run around closing doors on everyone

Tomorrow we celebrate George's first birthday, and this weekend we'll be christening the house with our first party!

(Nothing like a solid deadline to get me motivated!)

We are doing great and looking forward to all the memories this house will hold over the years.

Issaquah, you're treating us well so far!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
