Roll Up, Roll Up

We celebrated George's first birthday with a circus themed affair last weekend and had so much fun catching up with family and friends!

As always, I found myself running around, having less than full conversations with every person I spoke to, and feeling generally frazzled, but such is the life of the hostess :)

(as I say at the end of each party: next year I'll hire a caterer and photographer!)

In keeping with a circus themed event, we had a bouncy house, hot dog bar, peanuts, kid friendly popcorn (cheese puffs), pin the nose on the clown, and a circus tent smash cake.

It was such a fun party!

The red dye on George's cake was a bit much for our birthday boy, but once he found his way around it, it was a smooth sailing sugar rush!

Of course Abigail joined in on the smash  :)

After having her hair and face grabbed by a cake covered brother, she figured he owed her a few bites!

Getting bathed and cleaned up took a while, but once that was done, we were able to relax and spend the rest of the day visiting with family and friends.

Here are more pictures from the day!

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate George's special day!

Having a big, festive celebration helped make our new house feel like home, so we appreciate everyone who took the time to come.

And a final, very happy birthday wish to my sweet baby boy.

I really can't believe you're one.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
