11 months

This time next month we will be celebrating you first birthday!

It's hard to believe we'll be ready for a party in the new house a month from now, but you know how I like a good, stress-ridden challenge (if you're not familiar with this trait of mine, just ask Dad) :)

Last month got so busy that a 10 month post slipped by, so I've got a lot of new news for you!
  • Since spending time together in Cali, you've become a HUGE Mamma's boy.  I love how cuddly you've been, but with you and Abigail both being big Mom fans, it becomes a little exhausting (although your sweet attention makes it hard to complain)
  • We've plateaued at 6 teeth (none since 8 months), but with lots of chewing and drooling, I think we have another round coming soon
  • You've started taking your first steps.  You can walk about 3-5 steps at a time and take such pride in each one.
  • You love pulling up on Sissy to walk with her.  This has ended badly more than once.
  • Sleeping from 6:30pm-6:30am with a waking to feed around 2-4am
  • You started waving last month and love attracting the attention of strangers
  • Tons of bababa and dadada's, but not related to identifying objects yet
  • Your green teether is my go-to for keeping you busy
  • You destroyed my sunglasses this morning in the gravel, so I bought you your own today and you love them
  • You and Sissy love yelling together in the car.  You trade off matching pitch and length of yells.  It's Ibuprofen worthy but so sweet
  • Favorite foods: blueberries (tis the season!), nectarines, avocado, peanut butter toast, and baby puffs (the big ones that look like Cheetos Puffs are your favorite)
  • I bought you your first pair of shoes last week: size 5 (!!) and I'd bet by this winter you pass Abigail in shoe size.
  • You fell on the corner of the fireplace last month and looked like a boxer for a few days.  Bumps and bruises are very common right now.
  • You love to dance and clap in time to music.  Grandma is sure you'll be a professional musician some day ;)

You are growing so much and becoming such an engaged, happy boy.  I am so proud of you and can't wait to celebrate your first birthday next month.

Love you!

Mom

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
