7 Months

Happy (belated) seven months, Buddy!

I know I'm a few days late, but life has been crazy.  (I'm pretty sure this has been my excuse for the past 2 months and will continue for at least the next 2).  This past month we took you on your first trip to Alderbrook, moved out of the house and closed, got a crazy stomach flu (which thankfully skipped you and Abigail) and most recently spent the holiday weekend at Mamie and Papa's celebrating your first Easter.

So yes, I'll play the busy card :)

This month has been full of huge strides forward, and a few strides back (I'm referring to sleep....I'm always referring to sleep!)

While I love how active you are, you are not a cuddly baby and that has taken some getting used to.  In order to get my cuddle time with you, I often let you nap on my chest or hold you longer than needed to fall asleep.  I need baby cuddles; they keep me sane.

Here are some fun facts this month:
  • You are crawling everywhere and getting into everything.  Sucking on shoes and pulling on electric cords are your favorite activites (of course).
  • You started crawling down stairs.  You often fall, but you always get up and try again
  • You've begun pulling up.  I came into the family room the other day and you had pulled yourself up to the windowsill to look outside
  • Finger food is your favorite: bread, yogurt dots, pancakes, and bagels
  • Your babbles are turning into early (unintended) words: Mama and Dada melt our hearts
  • You love riding in the stroller, looking out at the world around you
  • Your 9 month sleepers are getting tight, your hands are the same size as Abigail's, and your feet are quickly catching up...stop already!
  • certain words crack you up: plunk, bing, and bong to name a few  :)

We are so amazed by you, George.  The happiness you find in everyday life is contagious.

I love you, baby boy.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
