Saying Goodbye

As many of you know, we will be moving tomorrow and hope to have our house on the market in a few weeks. Spending our last week here has been a mixed bag of emotions: from a heavy heart to anxious excitement, I've processed it all.  This house was never intended to be our "forever home" but it's been a special one. It's where we became husband and wife, where we found out we were pregnant ( waking Kevin up before dawn, both times , full of excitement ), and where we brought our babies home.  We've thrown some great parties, celebrated happy milestones, laughed, cried, labored, and loved. It's where life happened for three and a half years, and a most special three and a half years they have been. As I say goodbye to this special place, I reflect on some of my favorite memories: The parties!   Abigail's gender reveal , her  first and second birthday,  Baptism celebrations, and booze-soaked Christmas parties. Our neighbors Gwyen and Albert...

Valentine's Day 2014

We celebrated a delightful Valentine's Day this year with the kids. While it didn't involve all the excitement of last year  (which included George's 13 week ultrasound), it was surely sweet. Abigail and I spent the morning touring preschools, then had lunch in Issaquah, followed by a Target trip to find a gift for Dad.  We picked out a heart shaped box of chocolates, and Abigail chose a card from the "funny romantic" section with a puppy on the front.  On the outside it read: "Don't Let This Cute Face Fool You." and on the inside: "I'm An Animal When I'm Around You!" ...it's what happens when you let them choose their own cards  ;) Friday evening Kevin came home with a bouquet of flowers, chocolate, and all the fixin' for crab mac and cheese- score! And while George didn't buy us anything, he gifted us a new milestone: sitting up unassisted for the first time.  We were all so proud of him, and I think h...

5 Months

To ring it another exciting month, you began sitting up last night; a sweet Valentine's gift for me, I'm sure  :) Were we sitting on the couch before dinner when you just sort of leaned off the arm rest and sat there.  In that moment, you looked like such a little boy!  I immediately ran to get the camera, while you sat laughing with Abigail.  You were so proud of yourself- it was adorable. No progress in the sleep department, but you've had a few half-weeks of good sleep, so I'm taking what I get.  Dad and I have become bed-sharing pros and while I haven't mustered the energy for a week of CIO evenings, I'm getting there (and boy am I getting there fast) Asleep or not, you are an amazing little guy, always laughing and delighted by the world around you. Here are some fun facts this month: You love rolling from your back to tummy.  Tummy to back isn't as fun- you're always banging your head on the way down. You cracks up watchi...

God Bless George

We were so fortunate to have Annie (George's Godmother) and Dan (his Godfather) fly in for George's baptism this past weekend! George was baptized at the 10:30am service on Sunday, and just like his sister before him, he fell asleep during mass (my kids are 2 for 2!) Here are some pictures from the church and party afterward: Before mass The processional George being baptized (I adore this shot!) Super Bowl Champions!

The Seahawks won the Super Bowl, beating the Broncos 43-8 and the city has been unglued all week! To celebrate, Kevin took Wednesday off and we went to the rally at Century Link field.  We bundled up the kids and headed out around 9:30.  It took us over two hours to get into town, and once we got there, we walked from Denny all the way down 5th Ave to The Clink (traffic was a nightmare and our bus couldn't budge past Dexter & Denny). Once we got there, a staff members at the stadium took pity on the idiots who brought two babies to the rally , and let us sit in the disabled section of the Delta Club, so we were able to split our time between outside festivities and indoor nursing, playing, and napping  :) Here are some pictures from our Seahawks Family Adventure Day: Waiting at our bus stop (for over an hour!) Finally on the bus.  Shortly after this picture, they filled it to the gils! Insane crowds gathered down on 4th for the parade ...

Two and a Half

Happy Birthday, Baby Girl! I've been waiting 6 long months to talk All Things Abigail, and while I know it was time to let monthly updates go, it's been hard. (I love gushing about my babies) There has been SO much that's happened since August: George was born and you became a Big Sister You dressed up as Dorothy for Halloween We spent Thanksgiving in Leavenworth (you spent the weekend happily playing with the "balls" on the Christmas tree) We celebrated Christmas as a family of four Enjoyed a laid back New Years Eve (we jeweled out George and you chowed down on shrimp cocktail!) We bought a new car You got your first haircut And we celebrated a Seahawks Super Bowl win! (Phew!) We've been busy, and it's hard to believe it's only been 6 months since your birthday. In that time you became a big sister and I cannot begin to explain the love George has for you.  You enchant him and produce huge smiles that not even his m...
