Round 2

(ding, ding, ding)

In case you weren't aware, August marks Birthday Month at the Lauckner's!

Abigail kicked it off last weekend with The Big One, we spent this past weekend celebrating mine (August 11th), then we'll wrap it up with Kevin's birthday on Friday (the 17th).  I should also mention, Papa's birthday is tomorrow (the 15th)...  and Auntie Carolyn's on the 28th... Tis' the Season!

We kicked off my birthday weekend with Summer Streets.  Each year "Phinneywood" (the hybrid neighborhoods of Phinney Ridge and Greenwood) get together for a summer art festival; Greenwood Ave. shuts down, and neighbors come out and play.

It was a perfect evening spent strolling the streets and reminding ourselves that maybe we do love our neighborhood after all  ;)

Saturday morning Abigail woke up eager to start celebrating (read: 6am. Happy Birthday to me...)  So we headed out for an early breakfast at our favorite spot (Roxy's) then over to Magnolia for Abigail's first swim lesson at Monger Pool.

I can already tell I'm going to love summer swim lessons for a few reasons:

1) Kevin goes in with her (which means I get to stay dry)

2) It's outside- can't beat that!

and

3) we switched our class to 2:30pm, so Abigail and Henry will be taking lessons together which means babes and Dad's can swim, while Anne and I enjoy summer refreshments disguised as coffee ;)

We spent the rest of the day at Schwingfest, then over to Lucy's for dinner, music, and fun!

Schwingfest is one of my favorite times of the year, so having it fall on my birthday (as it does every few years) is extra special.

Mike, Mamie, and Papa joined in the fun!

We amused ourselves by putting a small pine cone on Abigail's head and watching her get it  :)

We wrapped up the weekend with a trip to Bainbridge Island on Sunday, spending the afternoon walking around, window shopping, and enjoying an early dinner at Doc's.

The Pub (our favorite Bainbridge establishment) doesn't allow kids, so we settled on Doc's and we're surprisingly pleased; both the Crab Louie and Vegetarian Quinoa were excellent!

For once in my life, I'm hanging out with someone who makes me look tan!

Abigail's new baby-yoga-stroller pose.  People constantly stop us to comment and laugh  :)

So now we're rolling into Kevin's birthday week...  I have a few things in the works and am getting excited to spend the week celebrating him!

So stay tuned, as Birthday Month at the Lauckner's continues....!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered the queso dip (yep, the

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a
