Third Grade Buddies

St Joe's is split into two campuses: Preschool-3rd grade in Issaquah, with 4th-8th grade in Snoqualmie.  This give both campuses a very intimate relationship with those around them and the third grade buddy program in Issaquah is especially sweet.

At the beginning of the year, a Third Grader gets paired with a incoming Kindergartener.  They go to Mass with them, do Kinder/Third activities together, and have opportunities to play with them at recess.

Abigail's buddy is Dylan Haugen (funny enough, I used to work with her Dad at Costco!)  Abigail and Dylan are adorable together.  Fiercely loyal and protective, they constantly seek opportunities to connect; whether to play or just give each other a hug.

I cannot tell you how sweet this has been to watch and what an amazing relief it is to see my little girl feeling safe and accepted in her big new world.

Here are a few recent pictures and items documenting their cute relationship (it's also worth noting the amount of artwork Abigail makes for Dylan on the daily!):

I mean, really 💕

To top it off, we had a few Kindergarten students move out of town over the Holiday season, so Abigail now has a second buddy: Finely!

Small world at play for a second time: Finley is George's best friend Sully's older sister (are you following?) and Finely's Mom sits on the Parents Club board with me and is a good friend of mine.

I just adore the intimate world of small school settings.

Christmas, 2018

Happy Holidays - I hope yours were filled with all your favorite people and traditions!

It's Santa Time!

Kevin and I kicked it up a notch this year for our annual visit to Santa with dinner at Hamanasu followed by a night at the Hyatt! We've been waiting to make this a bigger deal (add the overnight piece) for a few years, but this was the first year we felt the kids were old enough for it - and it was sooo much fun!

Merry Christmas!

May your day be Merry and Bright!
