twenty months

So I missed your 19 month post, but I'm back at last to share what's new since your 18 month birthday.

You're really growing up and becoming a toddler!  Even Abigail reminded me yesterday that once you turn 2, you will no longer be a baby (😱) - it seems so right and fitting, though.

You are starting to talk a lot - so much more than anyone else at this age, and while they are not words others understand, Dad, Abigail, George and I know exactly what you're saying.

Here are some examples:

Meh-moh = Elmo (you're obsessed with Elmo right now and finally like TV!)
DD = GG (George)
Bu-Boh = Mabel
Baba = Grandma and / or Grandpa
Tissy = Sissy (she taught you this and shines with pride each time you say it)
Cah = car
Kai = tree (it's a weird one, but totally legit)

You are such a happy, albeit direct and pushy little guy, and we love you to pieces!

Spending solo time with you in Sun River

Here's what's new:

  • You tell us when your diaper's wet "dada - I have poop poo" is one of your favorite sayings
  • You adore Mabel and Hattie
  • Owwwwwwwwie is what you say to getting your diapers changed or getting an actual owie
  • Go Go Go you yell when we're at a traffic light (wonder where you got that from....GG)
  • You sing Ba Ba Black Sheep and Happy Birthday on cue.  This was especially cute on Gpa's birthday last month.
  • You understand everything asked of you / told to you and respond accordingly
  • You RELISH in the idea of being told no and deliberately do it anyway
  • You love playing the Elmo game on my phone.  For so long I though you were calling out for me, but it was Meh-mo, not Mama 🙈
  • Biting has been a passing phase these last two months
  • You love PB sandwiches and oranges
  • When you're done eating, you wipe you mouth then wipe off the table in front of you (I've trained you well!)
  • You still LOVE your paci.  I'm not exactly sure when we'll wean you off, but I'm honestly in no rush.
Summer is upon us and I can't wait to spend some fun, unscheduled time with you, George, and Abigail!

Happy 20 months, little guy.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
