sixteen months

hey Bey!

What a busy and crazy month it's been with the holidays and all things surrounding the election.

I feel like my head has been anywhere but here - I hope I'm able to apply my energies to something tangible and constructive in the coming months, but for now here I am - your mess of a Mom šŸ˜

You continue to explore and develop your coordination, and these past few weeks you really started engaging with the big kids  (the only not-so-awesome thing is George's "hug" - he comes up from behind, hugs around your neck, and lifts šŸ˜Ø)

Here's what's new this month:

  • You sing the tune to Happy Birthday (the big kids and I swear!), and "Aba-gah" is your new favorite word.
  • You adore Barleen's fish oil and Vitamin D drops and run to the kitchen when you see them coming.
  • We are officially at one nap a day, from 12:30-2:30, and you sleep from 5:30pm-7:30am at night.
  • You wear 18-24 month clothing and size 5 shoes (my favorite little grey and red Nikes!)
  • You can twist lids on and off, open doors and closets, and turn on the bathtub faucets
  • You've made a few attempts to walk down stairs.  (it's ended well 0% of the time šŸ˜‰)  This recklessness has earned you the title of Drunk Baby!
  • You enjoy feeding us and rarely let us feed you anymore.
  • I constantly find shoes and toys on the garage step - you enjoy stuffing EVERYTHING through the cat door!
You love us each so fiercely and are such a bright light in our lives.

We love you beyond words, Benny Boy.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
