fifteen months

Oh boy...aliments were the name of the game this month.  Not necessarily yours each time, but from Thanksgiving until now, we've had everything from stomach bugs and bronchial congestion, to back pain (the latter was mine - in bed for 3 days straight, driving everyone mad).  Today is the first day of Christmas break, and while most everyone was sick last week, you, me, and Dad are still on the tail end of this cold.  I brought everyone out for errands this morning, twice (cause I'm stubborn like that!) and you managed to tell me in every non-verbal way you know how that it wasn't cool.

My bad.  (but just bear with me once more while I drag you to the mall for your first haircut after nap, alright buddy?) šŸ˜‰

You started talking a lot this month.  Dada, bah (bottle), bye, and buh (book) are your first words.  I'm not sure which came first, but the fact that you're such a big Dad fan (seriously, you can't get enough of the guy!), I think we'll award him this one šŸ˜„

Here what's new this month:

  • You love light switches and the ability to turn lights on and off.
  • You've learned how to unzip your coat and are now trying to figure out how to put it back on.
  • When you want to go out, you walk over to the laundry room to get your shoes.
  • When I go out to the car for something, you run to the family room window to watch me and wave.
  • You're back to two naps a day, which I'm actually enjoying.
  • You enjoy picking ornaments off the Christmas tree and leaving them on the floor.  This year's tree is an ever evolving look!
  • You sat down to watch a TV show the other day.  You were starting to feel sick, and it was only for a few minutes, but it was a nice little break.
  • You still love hitting people and you bug Sissy to no avail in the car.
  • Since you're in the depth of the grabbing and hitting stage, Christmas presents are staged on the dining room table this year, and George's North Pole train set is out of service most days.

I realize a lot of this news sounds negative, but it really isn't.  You are so funny and clever, and while you do bother your siblings with your causation obsession, you make up for it with huge smiles and lots of laughs.

And you're just so freaking cute!

We love you Ben Ben - Merry Christmas baby boy!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
