Mother's Day 2016

We had a blast celebrating Mother's Day this year!

As per tradition, Kevin surprises me for the day.  I realize the expectations are high and could backfire at any moment (and they have!) but we love putting the FUN in dysfunction!

This year I awoke to breakfast in bed (where I watched Curious George with the big kids) and was cooked my favorite: Eggs Benedict.  After breakfast came the big reveal: an overnight at Suncadia - that night!

We drove up at nap and spent the day drinking, swimming (Benny's first time!), running around the hotel, watching movies, and eating room service pizza for dinner.

It was perfect.

Aside from Kevin's phone getting drenched in water, and mine with a broken camera lens (and thus, fuzzy pictures) I would say it was the best celebration to date (Kevin taking off Monday work, giving me a shorter week was a bonus too)

Road trip!

Waiting while Dad checks in, making faces at the camera
Checking out the digs

An almost crawling Benjamin

Snacks in the lobby

View from our room
Getting ready for his first dip!

G man is ready!

My adorably cautious one
He loved it!
A man took this picture for us after watching us attempt an in-pool selfie  ;)

Speedo!!

Riding back to our room in the trunk

And up with Mommy (breaking ALL the rules)

Bottle service for two (yes, that's an evening mimosa)
Watching Sister Wives with our bookends = winning

Trying her best to pull an all nighter (just look at those adorably blood shot eyes)

I hope you ladies enjoyed your Mother's Day celebrations, too.

Cheers to us!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
