Four Real

Happy Birthday, Abigail!!

We had so much fun celebrating this year!

Sunday was your party, then yesterday you celebrated at school with a birthday circle and cupcakes, followed by a pizza party and Sundaes with Gma, Uncle Victor, Catherine, and Archie last night.

Earlier this week the idea of you turning four seemed so strange to me, but it was like I woke up this morning (the day after your birthday) and thought, "Yep, she's four.  Of course she's four!"  There was something strangely unspoken about yesterday which seemed to solidify it all.

You are four, for real!

Strange how that works  :)

You make us so proud every day and to look back on this last year and reflect upon your growth practically makes Dad and my head spin!  You really are maturing, growing, and becoming more independent every day.

Here are some of your most recent updates and favorite things:

  • You love going to school and when asked what you did that day, you sigh and casually respond, "oh, I just did work"
  • When referring to something in the past you say yesterday or last week, and when referring to something in the future, it's typically Friday.
    • You informed me earlier this week that baby brother is coming this Friday!
  • Speaking of brothers, you love to help George, hold his hand when walking in public, and at times, scold him when you think he could use some discipline :)
  • Mac and cheese is still your favorite food, Grandpa is your best friend, green is your favorite color, and you love all things baby and animal.
  • (You do not, however, like snakes!)
  • You're good at drawing people, fast at counting and subtracting, and love to play board games (Zingo is the current favorite)
  • Tinkerbell is your favorite movie, but just like me, you have a soft spot for Julie Andrews flicks (particularly Sound of Music and Mary Poppins) and you could listen to those soundtracks on repeat forever
  • You love watching Peppa the Pig on my computer.
  • You don't like sleeping in pajamas, or as you remind me each night "I just want to sleep with my tummy"
  • Not everything you say is super clear yet, but lately when I ask you to repeat yourself it's met with a deep sigh, then a repeat of what you said.  Sassy  :)
  • You hate getting your hair washed but are beginning to let me put your hair half up, in ponytails, and even french braids.
  • Every night I tuck you in and we exchange, "I love you, Best Friend" before drifting off to sleep.  It's the highlight of my day.

Abigail, we love you so much and are so proud of you!  Like I said before, you have grown so much this past year and charm us each day with your quick wit, sense of humor, and most of all, sweet, genuine heart.

A happiest of Birthdays to you, Bitsy Girl.

I love you!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
