Father's Day, 2015

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Father's Day this year!

Since the actual day fell on the Sunday of the US Open (here at Chamber's Bay, none the less!), Kevin spent the day with his Dad out at the course, so we celebrated a day early.

As per an increasingly impossible tradition, I made him breakfast in bed.  Abigail has been coming into our room at night to sleep, and apparently she was moving all over the bed the night before, so Kevin ditched us and went to go sleep in her bed.

(and here I thought he was just trying to sleep in!)

We brought him coffee and the gift Abigail made for him, then thought better of the whole breakfast in bed fiasco and just ate downstairs  :)

Abigail made him a kite and card, so after breakfast we hit the streets to test out Dad's new toy!

We spent the later part of the day on Bainbridge.  The kids LOVED riding the ferry (it had been a while!) and had fun going to the toy store in town, strolling around, and having dinner at Doc's!

And while having Kevin gone on Sunday made my week a day longer (it was like having two Mondays!) I love that he was able to spend the day with his Dad at Chamber's and had so much fun.  Plus, we got to hang out with Mamie for the day, so it was a win-win!

Here are some pictures from his day:

Kevin,

Thank you for being the patient, kind Father that you are.  They are so lucky to have you as their Dad and I know that as the years go on, they will begin to understand that even more.  You are a treasure and we love you so much- even if we don't always show it  :)

XX,

Your crazy, not-so-relaxing, always up-to-something, loving little family.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
