An Easter Surprise!

We had a delightful time celebrating Easter this year and two things in particular made it extra special:

Hosting our families, and surprising everyone with a gender reveal!

Since Spring isn't a busy season for us, I found it really relaxing and enjoyable.  We had baskets waiting for the kids when they woke up, made it to church early in our Sunday best, and had lots of time to prepare for family coming in the afternoon.

We decided a while ago that finding out the gender of this baby would be fun to do in front of all our family.  And since we knew we wanted to start the traditional of hosting Easter, it was the perfect time to share this news.

As some of you may remember, we're notorious for Easter surprises :)

So I talked to the baker at our local QFC who took the sealed envelope we'd received from our doctor to made gender reveal cupcakes for us!  The idea is that you bite into the cupcake, and on the inside is a huge dollop of pink or blue frosting.

I think they missed the "huge dollop" memo because this is what happened...

It was such a confusing moment!

Here I was, anxious as ever, and as I (and everyone else!) go to bite into our cupcakes, we see nothing.

Nada

Well except a small blue spot which most of us believed was a sprinkle lost in the frosting.

This is the best picture we have :)

So Kevin ran to get the envelope, and low and behold....  "It's a BOY!" was written on the inside!

I was SO sure I was having girl, so the adjustment these past few days has been weird, but I'm so on board for another boy and beyond excited for our family!

So that's that  :)

We're about 95% sure he will be named Benjamin.  This was our boy name for Abigail (and what we called her for the first 20 weeks when we were just sure she was a boy), so it seems only natural, and totally full circle, that we end up with our little Benny Baby Boy after all!

Anyway, here are some pictures from Easter this year!

Anticitpation!

The Easter bunny came!

George insisted on an episode of Curious George before checking out his loot, but once he was ready, he was pleased with his findings  :)

This guy spent most of the service outside  :)

Party time with Mamie!

Funny faces with Sissy!

We had such a wonderful day and were so happy to share such a fun, monuments moment with our family.

Happy Easter, everyone!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
