Hi My Love!

This has been quite the month.  Nothing particularly groundbreaking has happened, but you've been very busy keeping us on our toes.

You constantly need to be doing something (or watching Curious George, or holding a remote, or drinking milk, or eating dried strawberries, or, or, or...) and while Dad and I would pay millions for a George Chill Pill, we are so in love with you.

Somehow, despite your activity and drama level, you steal our hearts and leave them aching for more (it's that amazing smile, those kissable ears, and big blue eyes.  I'm sure of it!)

You have this adorable new habit of looking down with a sad puppy face (all cheeks and lashes) when I get mad at you which makes discipline incredibly difficult.

9 times out of 10 it ends like this:

"(laughing) oh Joe!  I'm so sorry I yelled at you"  (a million kisses and hugs ensue until you're wrapped in a fit of giggles).

You sure know how to work your crowd  :)

Here are some new news this month:

  • You are days away from breaking both top lateral incisors
  • You've started waking up at 5:30am, so we turn off the monitor, go back to bed, and get you at 7am.  5:30 doesn't fly in this house, but books keep you company.
  • This has resulted in an earlier nap (11am) which most times is hard to accommodate
  • You spend at least an hour a day in my car, sitting in the front seat and playing with all the buttons.  It's by far your favorite thing to do.  So I go inside, get things done, and come check on you every 5-10 minutes  :)
  • Tons of words: (bah) bottle, (muh) milk, (jew) juice, bubble, (cah) car, (tuk) truck, (rawr) dinosaur, (nana) banana, duck, (da) dog, (Da) Dad, (Ma) Mom... to name a few
  • You understand up, down, on, off, in, out
  • You started taking off dirty diapers and playing with them when you wake up from nap.  I've started going in to get you right away ;)
  • Most adorably, you finger dance just like your Daddy used to

Wow!  It's like a picture 4 years in the making!

You're the cutest and I love you to pieces, baby boy.

Happy 19 months

UPDATE: I stole away for a few minutes to publish this and as I was about to press send, something seemed off downstairs (aka, it was too quiet with both you and Sissy at play).  So I ran downstairs and there you were in the living room, diaper off with your hands behind your back, leaning back just a bit and peeing all over the carpet!  When I saw you, you looked up with a huge smile and started laughing....

I am SO not ready to potty train you yet.  (please, please, please, don't make me)

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
