19 months

Hi My Love! This has been quite the month.  Nothing particularly groundbreaking has happened, but you've been very busy keeping us on our toes. You constantly need to be doing something (or watching Curious George, or holding a remote, or drinking milk, or eating dried strawberries, or, or, or...) and while Dad and I would pay millions for a George Chill Pill, we are so in love with you. Somehow, despite your activity and drama level, you steal our hearts and leave them aching for more (it's that amazing smile, those kissable ears, and big blue eyes.  I'm sure of it!) You have this adorable new habit of looking down with a sad puppy face (all cheeks and lashes) when I get mad at you which makes discipline incredibly difficult. 9 times out of 10 it ends like this: "(laughing) oh Joe!  I'm so sorry I yelled at you"  (a million kisses and hugs ensue until you're wrapped in a fit of giggles). You sure know how to work your crowd  :) Her...

Hi Bunny

Baby Boy! Here we are a week into knowing your gender and things are starting to feel so real and right. I had a doctor appointment on Friday and everything is going really well.  You were moving around a ton (the nurse kept moving the doppler to find you again!) and your heart rate sounded perfect around 150. This week we received our first congratulatory card and I put it on the mantle.  It's a darling reminder of your pending arrival and makes me excited each time I see it. We haven't told George about you yet (he's still so young, so we'll probably wait until late summer), but Abigail adjusted perfectly to the news of a baby brother. "Oh!  A brother? Okay!!" And when I asked her if she had any name ideas, she suggested Papa. Thankfully she's not in charge of naming you :) As I mentioned, we're about 95% sure we will be naming you Benjamin, so I've begun calling you Benny when talking to Abigail.  She can't say it clearly, s...

About Technology

I was in the kitchen washing dishes when I heard Abigail talking to someone: A: "Do you want ice cream?....  I say, do you want ice cream??" (I figured she was talking to me, so I replied) Me: "No ice cream right now, Abigail" A: "No. I talking to the phone, Mama" Apparently she and Suri are buds  :)

An Easter Surprise!

We had a delightful time celebrating Easter this year and two things in particular made it extra special: Hosting our families, and surprising everyone with a gender reveal! Since Spring isn't a busy season for us, I found it really relaxing and enjoyable.  We had baskets waiting for the kids when they woke up, made it to church early in our Sunday best, and had lots of time to prepare for family coming in the afternoon. We decided a while ago that finding out the gender of this baby would be fun to do in front of all our family.  And since we knew we wanted to start the traditional of hosting Easter, it was the perfect time to share this news. As some of you may remember, we're notorious for Easter surprises :) So I talked to the baker at our local QFC who took the sealed envelope we'd received from our doctor to made gender reveal cupcakes for us!  The idea is that you bite into the cupcake, and on the inside is a huge dollop of pink or blue frosting. ...

About Hygiene

I was putting Abigail down for a nap today when she showed me her little pointer finger. A:  "Look Mama!" (It was a booger, so I threw it away) A: "Hey!  Where's my booger?!" Me: "I threw it away" A: "I was going to eat dat!" (speechless) :/

All Aboard!

A week ago today, my little girl was filled to the brim with anticipation.  We were leaving for Leavenworth the next day, and she and Kevin would be going by train! As we sat eating lunch that day Abigail informed me (for the hundredth time) that "me and Dada are going on a choo-choo!" And would then proceed to casually ask, "So!  What chu going to do, Mama?" If it wasn't for her being so adorably excited about the whole thing, I would have sensed an air of superiority to her questioning ;) Finally Friday came and I dropped off the ever excited Kevin and Abigail for their adventure East!  Abigail packed her backpack with all the essentials: snacks, Dolly, toys, and drawing supplies. And while George and I drove over, I received adorable pictures from their adventure. She melts me  :) Meanwhile, I partied with this guy... I may or may not have stocked up on gas station food to keep him occupied on a 2 ho...
