I hope this finds everyone enjoying this first (sunny and beautiful!) day of the new year.
We were busy, busy, busy this holiday season, but with Kevin off work from Christmas Eve through this coming Monday, we've had time to decompress. It's been really nice.
We hosted Kevin's family for Christmas Eve (our first holiday host in the new house!) and had such an amazing day hanging out, opening gifts, enjoying delicious food, and spending time together as a family.
While hosting a holiday carries its own set of stresses, I really enjoyed getting the house ready, decorating, and setting a formal table.
There is a special place in my heart for fine china, cloth napkins, formal serve ware, and silver.
I just love it!
Then it was off to bed for Abigail.
Santa was on his way with (kitties!) in his sleigh, and the last thing we wanted was a foiled surprise.
Christmas morning was tricky.
Abigail woke up, and when Kevin left our bedroom, Millie started to cry. Lucky for us, we had my cell phone nearby, so I blared Christmas music as we walked downstairs.
And while we intended to wait until the very end for the kids to see Millie, her crying was too loud, so Santa's big gift came first.
Both kids were still sleepy, so it wasn't the hysterical outcry we expected, but it was sweet none the less.
After presents were opened and the house was in order, we left for Leavenworth to spend Christmas with Gma, Gpa, Victor, Catherine, and Catherine's parents (Roger and Donna). Uncle Bob came up on Friday, and Lucy and Richard came to visit on Saturday.
We had hoped to stay through the new year, but with George not sleeping well, we headed back on Tuesday.
We did however manage a fun snow day, a morning coffee date in town, and some snowy walks, so all was not lost.
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season and were able to spend time with those you love.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
