16 months

Happy Birthday, baby boy.

I swear you've been 16 months for a while now; this age seems to be your "forever 21" (yet it's only just begun!)

The month was full of excitement and you seemed to mature so much.

You understand about 90% of what I say to you now, which has made my life a lot easier:

"George, go get your shoes."

"where is your coat?"

"will you get me a diaper?"

It's very much working in my favor  :)

Lots of new stuff going on this month:

  • When I tell you it's time to go, you eagerly find your shoes and coat.  And if Sissy is dragging herself around (as 3 year olds stubbornly do!), you happily get her shoes and coat too.  Team work, mah man!
  • You're into everything: opening or climbing the oven (seriously.), turning on the TV through the cable box when I hide the remote, opening the dishwasher and taking dishes out, or trying to open doors (thank God for knobs!)...  reliving this through the written word exhausts me all over again!
  • You're now taking one nap a day, typically from noonish-3.
  • You love sucking the juice out of oranges, but yesterday you finally started eating the whole thing.  Yay fiber!
  • Me: "GG, what does a bee say?"   You: "pfffffffffff" (farting sound)  :)
  • You think feeding Millie your breakfast / lunch / dinner is hilarious.  Sissy and I both yell at you, but you just look up and smile.   Poor Millie is already starting to look a bit more plump!
  • "Duce Due" = Curious George.  Don't ask, but I guarantee it sounds eerily correct (you have to hear it to believe it!)
  • You're wickedly good at finding Abigail in her I Spy picture book.  It's freaky!
  • You insist on reading a book while having your diaper changed.  It's like an old man restroom tendency, already surfacing  :)
  • You've turned into quite the Daddy's Boy, clinging to him each night when he comes home.

You have such a zest for learning and love, George!

It's an honor to spend my days with you, exploring this big, amazing world by your side.

I love you.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
