Mother's Day Weekend, 2014

We enjoyed a fun, relaxing Mother's Day in Sequim this year. The plan was to leave bright and early Friday morning (around 5:30-6am) when George usually wakes, but we ended up closer to 8am.   With our track record, that's close enough  :) The kids enjoyed the ferry ride.  Abigail and Kevin played on the deck while George and I sat inside eating oatmeal (George hasn't learned how to breath in the wind, so the ferry deck terrifies him).   We got to the place, baby-proofed everything (removing all knick-knacks, and half of the furniture), then settled in to enjoy a weekend at the beach.   Later in the day we drove to Port Townsend for dinner at Addie Mae's (ah-mazing!)  Then back at the place that evening, Abigail and I shared a room ( she doesn't sleep well in unknown places; who can blame her) , and Kevin and George had the other room.  Did I mention it was a romantic weekend ...

George's First Teeth!

George's first tooth came in yesterday- his top left! And as you can see, the top right isn't far behind.   Keep it up and Jaws might become your new nickname, GG! Teethers and anything chewable have become necessity, and nursing when he's playful has been interesting :) This morning the bottom two also broke through, so I'm thinking we'll have 4 visable teeth by this weekend. Let the fun begin ;) (Abigail's first tooth !)

8 Months

Hi GG! These months are flying by, and it's hard to believe you're closer to being a one year old than a newborn. We met up for a playdate with an old friend of mine yesterday.  Our play time fell during your morning nap, so I rocked you to sleep in my arms then placed you on our blanket in the shade.  Watching you lay there fast asleep reminded me that while you're growing up so fast, you really are still a wee-one. Active as always, you enjoy the freedom mobility buys.  You love exploring around the house, pulling up to Abigail's booster to snack off her tray, or standing at the water table and splashing away.  But being active comes with a price; you have lots of bumps and bruises to show for all your hard work  :) Sleep continues to be a rough patch (waking at 5:30am each day), but you're starting to take two solid 1.5-2 hour naps a day, so it's a step in the right direction. Here are some fun facts this month:...

Mom's First Handmade Gift

Abigail handed me this adorable flower when I picked her up from school today: This was the first "surprise" she's ever made me (at co-op we always knew what they were working on), which made it all the more sweet. Until we got home. Somewhere between preschool and the house, she decided this wasn't actually for me, but something she'd made for herself, and "No, Agail's!" was the only response I got when asking if it was my Mother's Day gift. Oh well, there's always next year  :) I hope everyone enjoyed a lovely Mother's Day weekend.  Pictures from our weekend in Sequim to come!

Pulling Up and Cruising

Sir George has amazed us once again! This week he started pulling up on everything and not only cruising along the furniture (and wreaking havoc on Abigail's dollhouse!) but actually taking his first assisted steps with the walker. This little guy is determined to go places, and FAST! And I can't help but liken him to Godzilla during his dollhouse rampages. I'm sorry Bits, I know how much you hate this.  (little brother's can be such a pain...I know) This weekend we're off to Sequim to celebrate Mother's Day.  I'm looking forward  relaxing and maybe getting the chance to sleep in.  Maybe  :) Have a good one!
