A Very Merry Christmas

Is it finally over?  Can I go to bed now?

We had such a great time celebrating George's first Christmas as a family of four, but man am I exhausted!

As per tradition, we spent Christmas Adam with my family and stayed overnight.  Victor and Catherine joined us for dinner that evening, then we opened gifts with Grandma and Grandpa in the morning.

They had a big surprise in store for Abigail, and she loved it!

After a morning of gift giving we drove to Enumclaw to spent Christmas Eve at Lucy's, enjoying a relaxing afternoon with extended family.

Archie, Oakley, and Felipe (dogs) joined us and while Abigail was slow to warm up, she enjoyed their company.

Oh George  :)
The kids slept all the way home, but Abigail had a second wind when we got back and stayed up until 10:30.

I had bought her Christmas PJ's that said "Staying up for Santa"- apparent foresight!

Watching Christmas movies WAY past bedtime!
Christmas morning George was up at 7:30am ready to meet Santa.  So up we went, caffinating (a Seattle-specific word ;) our way to 9:30am when Abigail finally woke up.

Happy boys

Once she awoke, we had breakfast then went downstairs to see what Santa had brought.

Abigail seemed interested in the gifts but immediately noticed the Yule Log on TV.  So instead of tearing into her presents, she kicked off the morning with a few dances.

Such a Bits move  :)

We got George an excersaucer and Abigail got a grocery cart, baby carrier, Cinderella Barbie (we've lost our minds) and a Daniel Tiger Trolley.

Of course George's excersaucer was her favorite.  Go figure!

Getting a picture of these two is hard...

Christmas morning weirdo

Around noon we headed to Mamie and Papa's to celebrate Christmas Day!

Mamie made an amazing dinner and we spent the day opening gifts, eating, and watching home videos- it was a perfectly relaxing end to a very busy holiday season.

Falling asleep on the way over after eating her weight in cheese puffs

A basketball hoop!!

I hope you had the merriest of days, spending time with the ones you love.

Merry Christmas!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
