Month of Bumps (33-36 weeks)

Alright Little One, we need to talk!

Things have been going great.  You've been treating me well, getting good grades at your doctor appointments, and being a fun, easy pregnancy, but we had a hiccup on Monday that we need to discuss.

You flipped breech.

Not cool.

While driving home late Saturday night I felt a huge movement (this was big enough for me to start Googling "early labor signs"), and come Monday morning, Dr. Koala thought you may have flipped.  Low and behold she got the ultrasound out to confirm, and it was true; you're full breech.

I can't say I'm surprised (I'm really not exaggerating when I say you move all the time!) but I'm hoping you flip back before our next appointment this coming Monday.  I think you may have turned back as I was driving out of the parking lot after our appointment, but I can't tell for sure.  I can however confirm that you've moved around about 110 times since the appointment, so who's to say.

A few weeks ago I got one of those weekly emails that said something like, "by this point, your baby is getting settled in and not moving around much".  That isn't you; you've actually become most active in the past 3 weeks, and unlike my pregnancy with your sister, I never have to count your kicks, so I suppose that's the silver lining :)

Anyway, we have a version set up for Monday afternoon if you don't flip before then (it's best done between 36 to 37 weeks), but in the meantime, I will do all the silly things Google recommends: ice packs on my belly, handstands, and maybe the ol' flashlight technique, in hopes that you flip back on your own.

Here are your monthly pics!

Only one month to go (as of today)... and maybe a few overdue weeks in there too  :)

Love you lots.

Side note:

Abigail usually sits on the couch laughing as I dictate the angle of the weekly picture.  She's in stitches as I upset myself over silly things:

"bring the camera up a bit!"
"That angle is going to make me look fat!
"Kev, I wasn't even looking!"

She was also very insistent about being in the 34 week picture  :)

See you soon, Little One.  We are so excited for your arrival!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
