Christmas Celebrations

This year's celebrations were so much fun!

While Abigail's still too young to grasp the concept of Christmas, she was definitely more with it than last year and had such a great time opening gifts.  It usually took her a few presents before she got the hang of it and really started tearing away, but luckily she had lots of stocking stuffers to warm up with  :)

Celebrations began Christmas Eve morning when we woke up at my parents place and opened gifts from Santa

(Santa still comes to their house every year- FYI!)

Santa came!
After presents and breakfast we got ready for our Christmas Eve celebration.  This year my parents hosted, so we got to lounge around a bit more and slowly get ready.

Everyone arrived around 1 o'clock and we spent the day hanging out, drinking egg nog, eating our traditional beef dinner, and catching up.  It was delightful.

Dressed and ready to party

Mom and Dad moved the couch out of the basement living room to set up the dinner table.

Guess who didn't want to eat

But she did want to sit on the table and flirt with her boyfriend Matt!

How does 30-some years, a few weddings, and many celebrations get by without one?!

Drawing numbers for the gift exchange

Of all the toys she got, Grandpa's wooden bowl and spoons were her favorite- of course.

We left my parents that evening and headed home in anticipation of  Christmas morning!

Since we just got back from New York, Kevin and I stuck to stocking-only gifts, but it was so much fun opening presents with Abigail.

As luck would have it, we woke up earlier than she did, so we were able to exchange gifts with each other and have our coffee in peace, then we woke her up, headed to mass (after all, He is the reason for the season!), then back home for pancakes by the tree.

Then Mamie, Papa, and Uncle Mike came over... which meant another round of gifts for Bitsy Girl!

So many fun things!

"Silly me; it's a kitchen!!  (but I still plan to use it as a walker)"

Later in the afternoon the Clayton's came over to continue our Christmas celebrations; we had so much fun hanging out with the babes, opening gifts, and playing music.

A memorable Christmas indeed!

We hope your Christmas was a joyful one.

Here's to a happy and blessed New Year!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
