Happy Birthday, Husband

This post would have come sooner, but I thought our Mac bit the dust.  Turns out, the mouse was unplugged...  :)

In years past, Birthday Week was my favorite, and while it's still the crowned Holiday Season around here, it got a lot busier this year (turning from Birthday Week, into Birthday Month).

I can't tell you how nice it felt to let the dust settle yesterday.... sigh.

Thursday was Kevin's birthday eve, so we dropped Abigail off at my parent's house and Kevin and I went boating- it was a blast!  We grabbed a few brews, went swimming, then headed to Blue Water Bistro at Leschi for dinner.  After dinner we extended our Eve celebration with night swimming... probably not the safest idea to kill the lights and swim in the dark, but I love the rush of doing dumb things... it makes me feel young and stupid again  :)

Heading back from dinner at sunset

Friday morning I rushed home to prepare for Kevin's semi-surprise birthday party (he knew we were having a BBQ with his parents, but I surprised him by inviting my parents, Dan, Anne, Henry, Raleigh, and Jenn- he loved it, but later admitted that he sort of knew....he saw a text from Anne pop up a few days before confirming they could make it.)  Oh well, my parents and Rals were still a surprise!

Eyeing that cookie....

Mamie made Sangria (and her famous Chocolate Chip pie!)

The Birthday Boy requested beer can chicken and veggie kabobs for dinner (I prepped, he cooked...)

Come present time, Abigail and I had a little surprise in store.  Kevin and his Dad were set on golfing for their birthday's, but little did they know, Anne, Amy, and I were one step ahead; we had already booked a tee-time for Sunday morning at Chamber's Bay!

(the guys were thrilled and talked shop the rest of the night)

Early Sunday morning, Kevin, Dan, and Kirk headed out for their all day golf outing, and Sunday night Kevin came home excited to tell us all about it...sounds like they had the time of their lives!

Kevin,

We had so much fun celebrating you this weekend!  You are an amazing husband, father, and friend and deserve the very best- on your special day and always.

We love you so much.

Happy, happy birthday, my love.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
